Kyle's POV
Watching her try on dresses was a lot more fun than it had originally sounded. I don't know if it was seeing her in the ugly dresses that made her face scrunch up in disgust. Maybe it was the dresses that were too tight and I had to help her out of them because her arms would get stuck in the most awkward positions. Maybe it was the dresses that fit her perfectly, made her smile and say 'maybe' before putting it back. I was sitting out side the dressing room while she tried on yet another dress and it had grown awfully quiet.
"Alex?" I softly knocked on the door.
"Y-yeah?" Her voice cracked slightly and I was instantly worried.
"Are you alright?" I heard a soft confirmation, "Can I open the door?" It was a moment of sniffling before I heard a small 'yes.'
I slowly opened the door in case she was in the way. When I looked up, my jaw went slack. She was in a beautiful white dress that was tight around her breasts and her torso, but poofed out at the waist all the way to the floor. It had a red tulle fabric wrapped around her shoulders, torso and a strip of it going down to the bottom of the dress and behind the fabric was a design of red flowers. I looked up to her face and saw her puffy eyes and small smile.
"Alex. . ."
"This is the one. This is the dress." She shakily said with a strong voice.
"It's beautiful." It was true. It was a beautiful dress, and I had even seen it on the rack earlier. But she was the one who made it beautiful. I took a small step into the small room and placed my hands on her shoulders. "Why were you crying?" I whispered.
"I, just. . .can we talk about it later. . ?"
"Of course. Now, take off the dress and I'll pay for it." Her head snapped up to me.
"What?"
"You heard me. I'm paying for it. I'm making you marry me, it's the least I can do." She quietly chuckled at that. I was about to leave when I heard a small 'wait.'
"What?" I smiled at her.
"Can you unzip it? I can't reach it."
The ride home was silent, but it was a comfortable silence. When we got to the house, I helped her inside and to the kitchen, because of course, she was hungry. I made salads to hold us over until dinner. Normally, I would have tons of paperwork to get to, but I had caught up on all of it while she was in the hospital.
"So, when do you want to be married?" I asked. She looked at me with her brows scrunched.
"What?" She asked with a mouth full of lettuce.
"When do you want to be married? What month?"
"Um, I don't know. I kind of figured that because this whole thing is because of your dad, you would've picked a date. . ."
"Well, I haven't~"
"I don't know then. As long as it's not a summer or a winter wedding."
"Oh? Why not?" I would've thought that a summer wedding would be nice because of the sunny weather at least.
"Well in the summer, it would get so hot that we would just be sweating and a winter wedding with my dress would leave me freezing. And that's me assuming that it'll be an out door wedding."
"Oh I see, so spring or autumn then?"
"Well, if it was in the spring then I'm pretty sure I'd have my 'winter coat' of fat because I don't like doing sports in the snow to stay fit and instead I stay inside and snack on everything." I laughed at the air quotes she used. "With autumn, I would still have my summer body, the one I've got now considering it's the middle of July, and the dress would fit perfectly."
