Goodnight, Sweet Nightmares

Have you ever been plagued,
By terrible dreams,
Dreams that haunt you and fill you,
With terrible screams,

Dreams that change you,
Dreams that hurt you,
Dreams that feel so real,
You beg for someone, anyone, to feel the horror you feel.

It's just a dream,
You tell yourself,
But this is not entirely so.
These dreams will haunt you,
Drive you mad,
Follow you wherever you go.

Sometimes the screams,
Out they ring!
Even when your awake,
So smile you must,
And act oblivious,
All for your own prides sake.

A perfect child,
So timid and mild,
Your parents must think you are,
But underneath your  smiling face,
Is a swirl of madness, a true disgrace,
In reality, from perfect you are far.

People would run,
People would hide,
Should they know what's really inside,
With this knowledge,
Alone you bear the burden,
Ignoring the pain and tears you've cried.

Some people suspect it,
"Somethings just off",
People fear what they do not know,
Even though they don't understand.
Wide eyes, soft gasps are made as you laugh,
These foolish people, away they go.

Of course,
People will leave you,
They will not stay,
It's human nature in a way,
But no matter how displeasing,
The nightmares that haunt you will always stay.

It may seem like no one gets you, and maybe they don't. But you don't need to understand someone completely to appreciate who they are and the fact that they are alive in this very moment, no matter what troubles are looming over them. Everyone with life deserves love. No exceptions. If you can't find it from anyone else, know you have it from me.
