Chapter 4
Random voices. He could not see or hear much but he could feel something was wrong. Especially when he was moving without walking by himself.

After the police arrested the shooter, they started looking for people who had gotten hurt during the shooting. They found Eric, passed out on the floor, blood coming out from his side creating a small pool. They immediately called the doctors and Eric was rushed to the emergency room as soon as possible with his condition unknown.

Meanwhile, Karly arrived in the hospital in order to visit William when she noticed the caution tape in front of the building. She walked closer to one of the officers.

"Excuse me?" she asked worried.

"Ys ma'am." he answered looking at her concerned face.

"What happened?" Karly asked again.

"Mass shooting in the building. Two dead and two in surgery. We'll know more in a while."The man told her hoping that everything was alright in her family.

"I have a son in the hospital, and my other son was with him. Are they alright?" She asked again ready to cry from the stress that dominated her mind.

"What are your sons' names?" The officer inquired offering to help her.

"William and Eric Unger. William is a coma patient." She explained as a small tear trickled down her cheek.

"I'm sorry about your son. I'll ask if they are alright. Just calm down." He explained.

"Thank you." She sighed in relief, even though she knew she wouldn't be calm until both her sons were home, safe and sound.

The officer then spoke into his walkie talkie. "Unit 17, this is unit 24. Do you copy?"

"Yeah I copy. We currently have code 10-92 (A/N, I looked up police codes. That is the code for suspect in custody) and no more injuries were received during the shooting."

"That's good. I need a status on room 463."

"Can I have the name and condition of the patient?"

"William Unger. Coma patient."

"He's alright. Luckily, someone was smart enough to lock the door before they went to investigate."

"Also, he had a brother, Eric Unger, who was in the building. Can I get a status on him?"

"Absolutely. We found him in the main hallway where the shooting took place, unconscious with a bullet wound in his left side. He was rushed in surgery. No more update on him."

"Thank you, that'll be all." The officer sighed as he turned off the walkie talkie, before looking at the woman in front of him.

"I am so sorry. I had four sons. One was in a coma for a year, and one of the others got killed in a shooting. That's the reason I became a officer." The man explained.

"What do you mean by that, sir?" Karly asked this time shaking.

"Your son, Eric, was one of the victims." He informed her.

The woman felt a little dizzy and ready to pass out but he caught her. "Just sit here, Ian, go get her a glass of water please."

"I need to go in. To check how my son is doing. Please." She begged.

"I am sorry, however that's not possible. They are in the middle of the investigation."

"Please. You already said that you lost two children. You know how I feel now. Please."

"Alright, we will go in together. Mike, take my position for a while." The man said and grabbed Karly's hand.

They walked into the waiting room, sat in two chairs until a doctor came.

"Can I have an update in Eric Unger's condition please?" The man asked.

"The doctors who were tending Eric's injuries in the emergency room, found out that he is in critical condition and the next 24 hours will determine whether he will leave or not. They finished patching him up and put him in the intensive care unit. You cannot see him right now so I suggest you visit William."

Eric heard a voice calling his name and asking if he is alright. He finally managed to open his eyes and saw the one person he didn't expect to be awake. "Billy! You're okay!" He yelled happily as he immediately sat up and hugged his brother. He felt his brother hug him back before he sighed. "What? What's wrong? Wait I remember getting shot. Why I don't feel any pain? " Eric asked.

"Cause, we aren't actually awake. You're unconscious and in critical condition and I am in a coma." William explained.

"Then where the heck are we? And why I hear mum's voice from the sky?"

"We're in between life and death. This is almost like a test. We have to escape soon or we are both gonna die. And mum is talking to me again." His brother explained.

"Are you serious?! We can't die! We have a family! You have a girlfriend! We have to escape!" Eric yelle and started hyperventilating.

"Hey, hey, calm down Eric. We will get out of here, because I know where the exit is. By the way, if you pass out in this world, you die so try to relax." William explained.

"Then, why didn't you escape?" Eric asked as William sighed.

"It's not that simple. I needed to wait for someone to come with me, since there were two people involved in the accident, two had to leave." The older boy explained.

"Well then, let's go!" Eric yelled, but William stopped him.

"What are you doing? Let's go home."

"Eric, even if we get home...you will wake up instantly, but I won't. For people in comas, I've heard others who come through here say it takes a month, at LEAST...I don't wanna wake up to find out..."The older brother trailed off while a few tears fell out of his eyes before finishing "If you guys have abandoned me. To find out if Angela abandoned me. You know how impatient she is."

"Billy, Angela loves you. We love you. Even if everyone abandons you, I know someone who won't."

"Who?"

"Me. Your amazing, confident, handsome younger brother."

"You know, I think that originally started as comfort, and then it turned into...well, Hal's character." William laughed.

"The point is, I wouldn't EVER give up on family. And you shouldn't either. Now, let's get out of here." Eric laughed.

"The exit is on the other side of that hall." The older brother explained as he pointed to a very long hallway, making Eric groan.

"Ok, if it is gonna take long, can we hurry? I don't exactly wanna die."

"Yeah. Let's get out of here." William laughed as they started running through the hall determined to see their family again.

Sorry it took...a month to update. Writer's block, zoning out, being busy.
But at least you get a update!
Special thanks once again to my editor, JoannaTorresLuiz, who also came up with this idea. I think in the next chapter, the boys will escape and Eric will wake , but not without a HUGE fight between Paris and Angela first.
Over and out.
