Chapter 13 A
-Date Night-
Looking out the window in deep thought, Alice contemplated. She thought about what Edward had done and was about to do.
"I don't know what to tell you, Leah," said Alice, the person who always had an answer for something.
Leah was excited to go on this date, but was unsure what to expect from Edward. Alice secretly feared that it might be a plot to further get to Bella. They knew he wasn't against kidnap, from his past musings.
Alice knew she must keep this to herself though, as not to offend Leah or scare Bella. The underlying feeling kept her gut churning throughout the entire process of preparing Leah to go out and stayed with her as the night began to progress.
She was having no visions of the upcoming night because of Leah's supernatural barrier she cast upon Alice subconsciously. If she did, it was cast aside, deemed unfit to rely on because Leah was not recognized within them, making it pointless.
"Well... we will see," responded Leah. She had asked her friend where she thought Edward would take her and was now a little off-put with the response.
Leah left the room briskly and walked down the stairs, leaving Bella and Alice behind to gossip on their own, which she knew they would end up doing.
Leah sat herself down on the softest couch in the living room, awaiting the entrance of her date.
Within ten minutes, she heard distant footsteps coming from one hallway. She tried to busy herself by looking at her phone, to make it seem like her waiting was not impatient and awkward.
The steps slowed before entering the room and she realized the footfalls were far too light to belong to Edward. Her eyes shifted upward to see Esme standing before her, a befuddled look upon her face.
"Esme, hello," said Leah, the awkwardness reappearing. She shifted how she was sitting and glanced around the spacious room.
Esme looked at her, clearly trying to see why Leah was sitting alone. She knew Bella was not in the general vicinity and didn't believe any of the pack to be there. She did not speak to Leah for a minute as she thought this, also trying to rack her brain for the girl's name.
"Hi," replied Esme. "What are you up to?" she asked, clearly not remembering Leah's name and trying to ask her reason for being without sounding rude.
Leah wasn't quite sure how to respond. "I'm... waiting for Edward?" she tried.
Esme was still standing as she pushed some brown curls aside from her eyes, to get a better look at the words she was hearing and who they were coming from.
Trying to brush it off, she replied "ahh," like it was old news. She began to walk away towards the kitchen as Edward entered, truly baffled. Clearly be hadn't told many about his upcoming night.
"Welcome," he said in his cool drawl, taking Leah's hand and kissing it as she stood. Her cheeks returned to that new shade of pink she'd only shown once before. She knew it was just typical for someone of his time, but her heart still skipped a beat at the feeling of his cool lips on her hot skin.
