Going down the narrow, dark, wooden hallway, Howl walks over to Markl's room.
He told Sophie that everything was going to be alright. But in reality, he didn't know what he was going to do or say to Markl. This was a whole new side of Markl he has ever seen before. He was always the one that was obedient and really never asked any questions when asked to do something. He finally reaches Markl's door, he knocks on the door. He hears Markl through the door saying "Go away, I want to be left alone." Howl gives a deep sigh and turns his back towards and slides down on the door to sit on the floor.
"In all honesty Markl, I don't know what to say-"
"THEN YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING! I'm a burden to you howl always was al-"
Howl gets up and opens the door so far and hard that he almost broke it . Then comes towards markl and crouched down and softly grabs his arms, looking at markl straight in the eyes" What!? You are not a burden Markel. You are far from it. You are a helper and friend and you are like a son to me."
Markl's eyes widen, and tears start well up. Markl without even his brain really processing, he hugs Howl. He felt Howls warm embrace. For once he felt safe, someone caring for him, like he had a real family.
