-Chapter Twelve-
At breakfast that morning, the only thing people could talk about was the Ball. Who was going with whom, what dress they were wearing. You name it, they said it.
Evelyn could really care less. The only thing she had her eyes on was Erik and Aphrodite. She wanted to see what would happen when you put the two exes in a room. Probably disaster was what she thought. Of course, Aphrodite didn't disappoint with that one...sadly.
Evelyn poured herself some juice -punch, of course- and waited for the war to unfold.
The first thing Aphrodite did was glare at Evelyn. Not the worst thing, but unsubtle. She wasn't even trying to hide the fact she had any dislike towards her. How rude some people could be, she thought.
Before Evelyn could watch step two, a tapping on her shoulder startled her. She looked behind her and her eyes widened. She hadn't expected to see this particular person until tonight. At the ball. Not at the Gryffindor table.
"Can I have a seat?" he asked, smirking at the deer in headlights look on her face.
She let out a nervous laugh and cleared the area next to her for him. This wasn't going to be good. He had never approached her when she was with her "Orange Friends". He called the Gryffindor orange for the mere color choice they were stuck with.
"So what did you want to talk about?" she asked.
"I just wanted to see how you were doing" he said. He looked around at the people that were looking at them and slightly blushed.
"Well hello, Tai. What are you doing hanging out at the Gryffindor table...? I had hoped we had seen the last of you. Well, until tonight, that is" Mackenzie teased, taking a seat across from Evelyn.
"I'm very flattered, Mackenzie" he said, rolling his perfect almond shaped eyes.
"Ha ha" she mock laughed.
He turned back to me. "Did you want me to come get you at your dorm or did you want me to meet you there? Your choice" he said.
Erik was now watching her ever breath and word.
"I -I guess I'll meet you there" she said, smiling.
He smiled a wide and inviting smile. "OK, I'll see you in class" he said, then to her -and everyone else's- immediate surprise, kissed her on her cheek. He then rushed off to his table.
She still felt the tingling warmth on her cheek. She touched her fingers to the same spot and smiled a goofy smile.
Mackenzie wolf-whistled and Luna giggled -which surprised her to no end. She had never heard Luna giggle and it was sort of a...comforting sound.
The bell rang and she walked with her friends towards the big doors leading to the tower where Divination was held.
She climbed up the staircase, grabbing onto the bars. They were slippery from all the sweat on it. Ew.
She sat in her seat next to Mackenzie in the back of the class.
The Divination teacher, Tabatha Addams, walked in, her usually curly hair straightened and her usually layered attire was replaced with pretty form fitting robes.
She wasn't eccentric; she was just...passionate about her work.
"Now, everyone pair up. We're going to be reading tea leaves today" she said, her southern accent pronounced more.
Evelyn got her cup, leaf and book. She didn't particularly like Divination, but it was always fun to see what your supposed future was going to be like.
