The canteen was impressively large but then again it had to be with the 500 or so kids that visited every year for their end of the year trip. The canteen had cement flooring with twenty white cafeteria stables. There were wooden beams that supported the building. The high ceilings had a glass ceiling showing the breathtaking views presented by the outdoors. There were three different styles of food being served by the three different cafeteria lines.
“You know I didn’t expect it but the cabins are so clean and spacious” chirped a girl that happened to be from our school as she passed by us.
“I knew something was wrong” Ariel said as we made our way down the cafeteria line.
“That old hag purposely gave us cabin number four.” Laurel grunted as we made our way to one of the empty tables.
“Cabin number four?” asks a girl with a yellow shirt. She had a black pixie cut with forest green eyes. Her beige skin tone made her appear warm and friendly unlike the rest of her group members who were ghostly pale.
She’s from Oak Hill School of fine Arts. That’s our rival school.
“I’m sorry who are you?” I inquired with an arched eyebrow.
“Oh. Excuse me I totally forgot to introduce myself” she admitted. “I’m Opal” She extended her hand out for a handshake with a smile on her lips.
“Like the fusion?” Laurel blurted out.
Ariel smacked us both in the head as she extended her hand to shake Opal’s.
“I’m so sorry they’re usually not like this” Ariel said with nervous laughter.
“What do you mean? I’m always like this” Laurel replied honestly.
“I would invite you to sit with us but it appears that the presence of a different party may create a uneventful events to occur.” Opal stated as there were people from her table giving us dirty looks just for standing there.
“You said you know something about cabin number four?” I ask.
“There’s a rumor that someone had been murdered in cabin number 4. Apparently a woman was stabbed to death and her kidneys were taken. Her body was found inside the bathtub weeks later. Like I said before its just a rumor I just want all of you to be careful especially since cabin number four is the farthest away from the other cabins.”
“We’ll keep that in mind...thank you” Laurel replied unsurely as we walked over to an empty table in the back and sat down. “She’s lying”“Why would-” Ariel protested.
“She’s trying to get into our head” I revealed to her as I looked back and saw her laughing with her friends. “She’s just like them.”
“The only person we should really be worried about should be Page. She’s absolutely insane. Listen Scarlet you can’t-” Laurel protested.
“Laurel! What are you doing?” Page screeched as she came over to our table.
“There she goes” Laurel seethed.
“Let’s go hang out over in my table”
“Don’t worry about it” I reassured Laurel. “We can talk some other time”
Laurel gave me a sad smile before she followed after Page to her table full of all the other popular kids in our grade but there were other things that I needed to worry about.
