Magic fire balls lit up the night sky, the explosions sounded like thunder as they hit at random targets.
"Get your shield! It will help you in close combat with magic!" Gideon shouted as they hurried to their tent dodging the magic fire balls and debris as they exploded near them.
"Father!" Kyra panicked as she throw open the tent's door flap, "Father, where are you!"
"Grab your shield Kyra!" Gideon pushed her into the tent.
"But my father!"
"Adrianus is a highly skilled warrior. He can take care of himself." he pushed her shield into her arms.
Seeing the fear in her eyes, Gideon slowed moment as he put his hands on her shoulder. She could feel her body shaking so he pulled her to him and wrapped his arms around her.
His voice was calm but firm, "You need to stay alert at all times. It will be hard as you will be fighting back as you will be holding your magic. It will want to come out to protect you but you have to keep it hidden." he kissed her.
"There will be times that you will not be able to. Just recapture it and hopefully no one notice."
He briefly rested his forehead on hers. Raising her head gently to look into her eyes, "This is not like the fights in the village. You can not safe these warriors. They are killed fighters and ordered to kill you."
Her beautiful green eyes were heavy with so much fear. Leaning down he took her lips, "I love you so much. Never forget that."
"I love you too." she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him.
Holding her tight, "Stay close to me." he gently pulled away. As she put her helmet on, she took a in a deep breath.
Kissing her one last time, "Here we go." he told her as he led they way out and straight into the fight.
Gideon was right. This was way different than attacking the villages. The village people had some magic skills but they weren't skilled as these who were trained. This battle was well organized and very skilled.
Fighting two to three attackers at once, it was harder on Kyra as she never had to fight so hard to hold her magic in. She felt the need to use it to protect herself but right now she could handle what was giving to her.
Using her power of sight seeing more men coming tours her, as well as her power to slow the fight down. Helped her get the upper hand as she dropped her shield and pulled her second sword out.
Even with her powers, Kyra arms were starting to get sore as she still manage to get cuts and burses as they came at her all at once. Once She only manage to block a few not all of them. Her magic was getting harder to hold back as she was weaker.
Unlike Kyra, Gideon didn't have them powers. He was a Master Healer but he was highly skilled swords men as he could pick up any weapon and master it.
He swelled up with pride when he glanced over at Kyra. Seeing her new ability first hand, she was faster then all the men she was fighting. More pride came to him as he noticed that she wasn't using her shield but had two swords in head like a true warrior he knew she would be.
Taking out attackers, Gideon notice a few attackers coming up behind Kyra. It seems like for some reason she didn't know that they were coming.
"Kyra!" he yelled as he ran tours her.
Turning, Kyra saw several swords go through Gideon's body.
"No!!" she cried as her new powers were broken and the fight was at full speed. Just then she felt something hard, sharp and cold enter her left shoulder and side.
More followed throughout her body as she went down on one knee. She had to focus back on her powers but once her helmet was knocked off. It was even harder as she fought to stay awake.
Warm liquid flowed from her face. She could feel her body starting to shut down. She knew she had no choice as she reached deep inside herself and grabbed her magic which was ready and throw it out as hard as she could.
Releasing it, she could see that everyone around her dropped into two piles. Her men, their men, it didn't matter. Who ever was standing around her was cut into half.
Rage began to feel her body. Her blood started to boil as her magic coursed through her veins giving her new life. Unable to see out of her right eye, she grabbed both her swords as she slowly stood up. Forcing herself to over look the overwhelming pain that ripped through her body.
Kyra noticed that everything was starting to slow down again. With her magic out just enough to give her new life, she began to fight.
Not feeling anything, killing became easy for her. She came to realize she really hated it. Wars, battles for what, more power for greedy people. It's not worth your life for someone like that unless you are like them.
Screaming with each thrust and slash of her sword, blood was going everywhere. She used what new magic she could as her body was getting weaker again as she wasn't trained on how to use her magic.
Not sure on how long this battle had gone on, their was a horn that echoed over the clashing of swords.
Fighting off three guys, Kyra finished one off but the other two had turned and hurried off. She looking around she realized that they were retreating.
She was to weak to chase after them. Knowing the battle was over, she turned her attention to Gideon who was laying lifeless on the ground.
Making her way over, she knelt down beside him, brushed away his sweaty hair, to see his bloody, dirty face. The leather rope around his neck that held her ring she gave him, she undone and placed it safely around her neck.
Unable to control her body. The last thing she felt was Gideon's body under her as her body shut down.
