"Hey, Renny. Wake up, kid." Sam murmured in my ear, as I was shaken awake, I looked around. We were on the Rez, and I was still in Sam's car. I looked at Sam, then closed my eyes again. I heard him sigh, and I internally danced around in happiness as I had just won. I was lifted up out of the car, then carried some distance, and then I  was dropped down on a couch with a blanket thrown over me.

I opened my eyes and looked around again, Sam and Emily's house.

Suddenly, my phone rang. Which was odd because it was the middle of the night. I looked at the caller ID and my heart skipped a beat as Charlie lit up on the screen.

"Er. Hello?" I answered

"Ren? uh Bells told me you were sleeping over Sam's. I just wanted to make sure you were - uh - okay. I guess." He spoke awkwardly.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Hey, dad. Are you feeling okay? You sound a little off."

"Uh. Waylon was attacked by an animal,"

"Oh my god, is he okay?"

"Ren. He didn't make it." My heart practically burst out of my chest at this. How could this have happened to Waylon? To my dad's best friend.. To the man that played Santa Claus, Jesus, the Easter Bunny, and even the tooth fairy back when I was younger.

"Oh. I'm so sorry, dad." I mumbled as a tear slid down my face. My heart ached, not for me or for Waylon, but for my dad.

"Yeah. I'm headed to bed. Goodnight Ren." There was a click and then silence. I sighed throwing my phone down on my lap. I got up and walked out the door, I needed fresh air.

I wandered around passing familiar houses, all held my friends. There was rustling coming from the trees. I slowly backed up, keeping my eyes on the trees.

Three shadowy figures stepped out and walked towards me. I froze in place. The red eyes shone through the dark, instantly telling me that I needed to run, or scream to get someone's attention.

"Don't run. It'll only make it worse for you darling." One of the vampires spoke up. They now were right in front of me, and I could see their faces perfectly. There were two men, and a woman.

One man with long, blonde hair that was pulled back, sniffed the air and then looked me in the eyes. "She's protected by a wolf," He hissed, backing away. The others didn't looked fazed.

"There are no wolves," The woman spoke up, rolling her blood red eyes. Wrongo, leech.

There was a low growling that sounded nearby. I sighed in relief, as the three vampires got anxious. "Let's just leave her, we'll find a new meal," The other man spoke up, nervously.

That's smart.

They turned and ran inhumanly off the Rez.

A hand rested on my shoulder, I looked over and was met with Paul Lahote. "Let's get you back to Sam's," He spoke softly. I nodded and followed him back to the house.

It was about 6 in the morning, the sun was rising so Sam and the guys are awake. Great. Time to get into trouble.

"We'll keep this little encounter with the leeches to ourselves. You just say that you woke up early and needed fresh air. okay?" Paul murmured, I nodded. It wouldn't be lying.

We walked in the house to see Sam and Jared sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee, and Emily cooking away. "Renny, where were you?" Sam asked, worriedly.

"I woke up pretty early, and I got a call that my dad's best friend Waylon died, so I needed some fresh air." Same nodded, sympathy written across his features.
