"So bud, how has school been for ya?" My dad asked trying to make small talk as he watched me eat my poptart, before you think anything weird, he has to watch me eat to make sure I'm eating something.

I shrugged, "It's been okay. I've been hoping to join the soccer team for next year," I murmured, looking down at the left over poptart.

"That would be great, kiddo! I'm proud of whatever you choose to do," He replied, excitedly. I smiled at him, feeling just about the same amount of excitement as he was showing.

Bella walked in just as my dad started to clean out his rifle, blurting out --

"I have a date with Edward Cullen."

He slowly placed his rifle down, and looked up at Bella. My dad looked like he was about to have an aneurysm.

"He's too old for you,"

"We're both juniors. I thought you like the Cullens." She replied

"And I thought you weren't interested in any of the boys in town," He shot back

"Edward doesn't live "in town." And it's in the early stage and -- whatever, he's outside right now."

"Now? He's out there?" He spoke, sputtering out his words awkwardly. My dad looked over to me with wide eyes, quietly signalling for help.

"To be fair, dad. It's not an actual date. I'm going with." I murmured to him. He seemed to calm down a bit as he let it process.

"He wants to meet you. Officially." Bella explained

"Good." He replied, cocking his rifle in mock-seriousness

"Be nice, okay? He's ....important"

My dad gave her a reassuring nod and made a mock halo... as she opened the door, gesturing for Edward to come inside.

"Eduardo!" I exclaimed, making him glare slightly towards me. He then turned towards my dad.

"Chief Swan. I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm Edward." Edward extended his hand. My dad takes it, but grunts a hello, resisting him.

"I won't keep Bella and Renny out late tonight. We're just going to go play baseball with my family."

"Bella's going to play baseball?" Bella and I looked equally surprised as he did. I knew I was playing with the family, but what I didn't know was Bella was going to attempt that as well.

"Yes, sir, that's the plan."

"Well. More power to you, I guess." My dad grunted, with an amused look on his face.

"She'll be safe with me, sir, I promise."

I stood up, kissed my dad on the cheek and skipped out towards my precious vehicle. I decided that I didn't want to wait for them for eternity, so I took off towards the clearing that the Cullens were all crowded in.

I arrived before count dorkula and my sister, which was an accomplishment because Edward drives like a mad man.

"Renny!" Alice shouted in excitement, as she rushed me. Jasper gave me a gentle side hug, and Rosalie hugged me tightly, but the one hug I wanted the most..I didn't get.

My best friend ignored me again. Are we even best friends?

I brushed it off, and put him to the back of my mind. I was going to enjoy today even if it killed me.

and oh did it kill me..
