after school, Briar waved goodbye to Gou at the school gates.

"See you tomorrow?" Gou asked.

"yeah sure," Briar said smiling a bit. After today she wouldn't dream of not going to school tomorrow. She wanted to see Gou again and the rest of her friends. Especially Nagisa.

"Awesome! Well see you 'till then!" Gou said, waving at Briar, then heading straight back into school.

Wonder where that piece of red-headed energy is going? Briar thought. Briar smiled and laughed a bit. 'that piece of read-headed energy' is what she called Rose sometimes.

On the way home Briar admired the scenery. She loved the big trees with pink flowers that were scattered across the place. However, she could never remember the name for them. She walked past a lake and saw 'water sausages'. Most people called them 'cat tails', but Briar liked the name water sausage better. When she reached her house she was two seconds away from opening the door when she heard rapid footsteps coming towards her.

Again? Briar thought, her hands clenched into fists, getting ready to defend her self against the attackers. They never learn.

But then she heard a familiar voice.

"Briar! Hey Bri, wait up!" (The nickname is pronounced Bry btw)

Briar was a tad bit surprised by the nickname. She turned around to see Nagisa running up to her. She turned to face him as he skidded to a halt in front of her, breathing heavily.

"H...hey... Briar... I was... w... wondering," Nagisa took a massive gulp of air, "If... you... w... would... like to see... the pool." Nagisa looked like he was ready to pass out any moment.

Briar giggled at this, startling herself. Since Rose died she never giggled. Briar snapped hersef out of her daze to see Nagisa had a huge grin on his face.

"I got you laugh! That's the most emotion i've gotten out of you today!" Nagisa cheered. He wrapped his arms around Briar's neck.

"You know there's a difference between a laugh and a giggle." Briar muttered, slowly moving Nagisa off her, hoping she wasn't blushing.

"Awwwww come on Bri don't be that way!" Nagisa whined. "Anyway! You wanna come or not?"

"I don't know Nagi..." Briar said, deciding to give Nagisa his own nickname. "I don't really feel like going anywhere right now..." and that was true. Briar, living by herself, didn't like to go places much. She only goes outside for fun like... 4 times a year.

"Aww, please Bri'?" Nagisa said, giving her the most adorable puppy dog eyes ever. She could've sworn there were literal stars in his eyes. If he asked someone to kill Donald Trump and gave them those eyes, they'd probably do it. Briar's face softened.

"Sure," she sighed. "But lemme put my bags away. You wanna come in?"

"Yeah!" Nagisa said, nodding his head eagerly.

Briar unlocked her door and plopped down on the couch with a huff. She slipped out of her backpack and went to her room. "I'll be right back. I'm gonna change." Briar said, then she yelled over her shoulder, "and try not to catch the house on fire!"

Nagisa laughed and shouted back "OK!"

Briar went into her room and chose a silver tank top and some light blue nike shorts. She put on flip blue flip flops to complete the look. She went back out to see Nagisa looking at something. She saw he had her sketch book and was looking through the pictures. Briar smiled. If it was one thing she took the most pride in, it was her art, and she felt highly offended when people mistaked her cats for dogs or her wolves for cats or asked her "What's that?" or "Why does it have no pupils?".

Most people never got how she drew. She usually drew what she was feeling. She crept up on Nagisa and she folded her arms on the couch.

"What'cha lookin' at?" she asked, a smug look on her face. Briar had stop herself from laughing out loud when the note book closed with a snap and Nagisa jumped up, blushing furiously.

"I-I'm sorry! I should've asked first! Please don't be mad!" Nagisa stammered putting his hands together.

"Hey it's alright. Dang that was hilarious though." Briar said. "Besides, I'm not one to hold grudges. And even if i did, i couldn't stay mad at you forever."

Nagisa visibly relaxed. "They're really good!"

"Anyway, should we head to the pool?" Briar said, looking at her digital clock. it was 5:04.

"CRAP! Yeah we should get going. Gou told me to be back by 5." Nagisa said.

"I'll come up with an excuse. I'm actually pretty good at lying, but i don't do it much anymore." Briar said.

"Were you lying about how you didn't hold grudges?" Nagisa inquired.

"Kinda. I only hold grudges against people who like, annoy me every single day, though i don't HATE them, i just dislike them."

"Am i annoying to you?"

"Sometimes," Briar said smiling slyly. "But it's a cute annoying."

Briar felt a surge of triumph as Nagisa blushed.

"Anyway, come on Nagi, didn't you say you were late?" Briar reminded him, looking at the clock, which was now 5:10.

"Oh! yeah. We better run though." Nagisa said. "How fast are you?"

"Oh please," Briar said. "I can leave you in the dust any day."

"Bring it on!" Nagisa shouted running for the door.

"HEY! NO FAIR! YOU CANT GET A HEAD START!" Briar shouted, racing after him.
