AUTHOR'S NOTES:

Hey y'all. This story has to be finished by tonight at midnight...and I think there's still two or three chapters that need to be written, AND typed. Not sure if it's actually gonna happen, but I'll try my best. SO STICK WITH IT.

And if by some chance this story doesn't get finished in time, I'll just say it's complete and then continue writing the book...as another book? If that makes sense. Anyway, if that happens, I'll make sure to do that ASAP, so you don't have to wait. And I'll post a message to all my fans telling you what the title will be. (Probably just going to be Saving Aden Part Two, or something lame like that).

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE/COMMENT/FAN IF YOU THINK MY STORY DESERVES IT! SAVING ADEN HAS BEEN ENTERED IN THE WATTY AWARDS, SO EVERY VOTE AND COMMENT COUNTS!

Anyway, here's chapter nineteen.

Enjoy(:

Chapter Nineteen: Lullaby

I fell backwards from the impact, the air leaving my lungs as I hit the pavement.

A man stood over me, his fans glistening in the moonlight. "You should've stayed away from Gage, girly," he said in a deep voice.

Chills ran down my spine, but my body didn't shiver. It refused to move at all.

The man darted back across the street, and then I lost sight of him.

Why can't I get up? I thought, panic sinking in.

I focused all of my energy on just getting my legs to move, but they wouldn't budge. I couldn't even blink, or move my eyes.

Blood gushed from around the wooden stake, and I could feel the very venom keeping me immortal practically evaporating from my flesh.

Oh god, why can't I move? Inside my head, y thoughts and panic bounced off the walls like crazy. Is this what it feels like for a vampire to be dead? Am I dead? I tried moving my hands, but had no luck. Move already, I pled with my body. For fuck's sake, just move. I need to get to Aden's.

"Fuck, Arianna?" a familiar voice called out from the distance.

I wasn't able to see who it was until they stood, crouched directly over my body, and were in my line of vision. Eddie.

"Who did this to you?" Eddie demanded, baring his teeth to the world. "I'll kill them."

I wanted to answer him, but couldn't. My lips wouldn't move to form the words Eddied wanted to hear.

"Oh, right. The wood's got you immobile," Eddie said, mostly to himself. He reached down, wrapping a large, gloved hand around the base of the stake.

Wood makes vamps immobile? Of course I wouldn't have known that because I'd never been staked, but it was still something I felt Gage should have mentioned.

"Okay, this is probably gonna kill like a bitch...but just old tight," he told me right before he yanked the take free from my ribs.

My chest was lifted from the ground with the strength Eddie had used to pull the wood out, and I dropped back down to the cement with a soft thud after it had left my body.

Air rushed its way back into y lungs, and I drank it in greedily. My throat itched and burned with an intensity like I'd never felt before as the blood continued to flow from my wound.
