Both Elena and Stefan sat in silence on the way back to the Salvatore house from the hospital, Elena's mind was racing with all of the new things she had discovered about Bonnie and Jeremy's life together.

Elena walked straight in through the doors of the house and ran to find Damon, excited to tell him everything about Bonnie and Jeremy. To her surprise, the house was totally silent and there was no sign of Damon anywhere. She couldn't even see or hear Caroline pacing about in her usual fashion.

"OH FOR GOD'S SAKE!" Damon yelled, from a distant room. Even without her vampire hearing, Elena knew it was him straight away and smiled at the sound of his voice. She walked towards the origin of the noise and soon discovered that Damon was in the kitchen making pancakes. Bonnie's pancakes. Elena leaned against the door frame with her arms folded and observed as Damon created havoc with the pancake mix. Her heart melted.

"Are you going to help or are you just going to watch?" Damon asked, whisk in hand. Even with his back turned to her, Elena knew that he had that stupid, cheeky smile on his face.

Elena uncrossed her arms and walked over to him. She wrapped her arms around his waist from behind, sliding her hands up the front of his t-shirt and nestling her face in the warm, soft corner of his neck. Damon let out a long breath.
"I would help, but it's so much more entertaining to watch you do it yourself," she added cheekily.

Damon put down the mixing bowl on the work top in front of him and turned to face Elena. He took a scoop of pancake mix from the whisk with his finger and gestured towards Elena who opened her mouth and licked the mix off. Damon smiled.

He chucked the whisk into the bowl in-front and grabbed Elena by the waist, pulling her forward to him.
"Do I have you all to myself yet? Or do you still have to talk to Stefan or Caroline?" he asked, looking deep into Elena's eyes. Elena shook her head,

"I can talk to them later, I'm sure it can wait," she replied, her voice barely a whisper.

"Good," Damon replied, "Because I'm not sure I can keep my hands off you any longer..."

Elena giggled, her heart raced as she felt the heat rising in her cheeks. Her head was muddled and her mind was clouded with so many emotions that she hadn't felt in such a long time.

"Then don't..." she stated, grabbing Damon by the hand and leading him upstairs.

Damon looked across the bed at Elena who was sprawled out next to him in her underwear.

"I love you Elena Gilbert," he smiled, running a hand through his messed up hair. Elena rolled onto her left side to face him, one hand underneath her head.

"I love you too Damon," she replied. Damon rolled onto his right side so that they were both facing each-other, their noses almost touching.

"I've been waiting for this for so long," he added, as his left hand reached up to her face and caressed her cheek. He rested his finger under her chin, held it there for a second and then lifted her face up so he could bring his lips to hers.

"I never want to be anywhere else than right here with you," he continued, pulling away from her lips. Elena grinned and shuffled forward so that her and Damon were touching. She snuggled into his chest and he wrapped his arms around her, creating a cocoon for the two of them in the duvet. Elena could hear his heart begin to race as she traced shapes with her finger across his chest. Damon grabbed Elena's hand and flipped her quickly over onto her back so that he was on top, looking down at her.

"I have something to give you baby..." Damon began, his voice starting to falter as it was clear that he was slightly nervous. Elena wriggled out from under him and propped herself up on her elbows.

Damon reached over to the bedside table and opened the top draw. He pulled out a very small object that was wrapped very neatly in a pale gold silk cloth. He sat cross-legged on the bed and carefully handed over the object to Elena. As she began to open it, Damon explained what it was,

"Bonnie gave this to me after her and Jer were married..." Elena opened the cloth and found a beautiful pearl and diamond hair grip.
"Bonnie wore this on her wedding day and she knew that by the time you were back, it would be an antique. She wanted you to have it and wear it on your wedding day. Every bride needs 'something old' apparently..." Damon continued, his eyes filled with such happiness but also sadness at the mention of Bonnie's name.

"Damon, I don't know what to say..." Elena began, completely taken aback by how beautiful this gift was. She was lost for words and could only imagine how amazing Bonnie looked on her wedding day.

"You don't need to say anything baby," Damon replied, leaning forward and kissing Elena's neck.
"Let me tell you right now, you will be the most beautiful bride that anyone has ever seen," he managed to speak in between kisses.

Damon slumped forwards and tangled his body with Elena's. They held each-other for what seemed like hours, both thinking about Bonnie and how they missed her in their own ways. Their silence was broken by the sound of Stefan and Caroline in the next room. Elena and Damon looked at each-other and smiled. Damon raised his eyebrow and smirked after clearly hearing what was going on.

Elena pulled the duvet over her and Damon's head creating a little fort underneath the covers.
"I'm glad that we're all together again," she whispered to Damon.

"Me too..." Damon replied,
"It's moments like this, with you, that make me realise that I am probably the luckiest man in existence right now."
