"Elena dear, I suggest you sit down before you fall down," Lizzie laughed, placing her hand on Elena's shoulder. Josie giggled too,

"You look like you've seen a ghost," Josie added. Elena couldn't think of anything to say. She had so many questions but yet her mouth was dry and no words could escape through her lips. Elena simply nodded in response to Lizzie's request and shakily pulled the chair out from the table and sat down.

Caroline pulled out the chairs for the girls to sit on and then sat herself down next to Elena. Elena reached forward and grabbed her glass of water, carefully sipping it. Caroline placed her hand on top of Elena's and gave it a light squeeze. Elena looked over the top of her glass and feebly smiled back at her.

"Where do you want me to start?" Caroline asked calmly, fully aware of how shocking this must be for Elena. Elena placed her glass of water back on the table and managed to get a few words out,

"How is this possible? Jo died at the wedding, I saw it myself. The babies couldn't have survived that." Elena looked over at the twins as she finished her sentence, in utter disbelief that they were sitting right in-front of her.

"The Gemini coven transferred the babies from Jo... to me," Caroline paused. Elena's eyes widened and her mouth dropped.

"You?!" she squealed.
"How is that possible? Vampire's can't have children," Elena croaked.

"The Gemini's used a spell to place them into me before they all died. They were never really my babies Elena. I just carried them for Ric... and Jo," Caroline's head dropped after she spoke the last few words. Lizzie, who was sat in-front of Caroline, reached her hand out to Caroline's shoulder.

"You know that's not true," Josie sighed.

"You were always a mother to us," Lizzie added.
"We couldn't have asked for anyone better to look after us for all these years. Especially after dad died," she continued. Josie grabbed Lizzie's free hand at the mention of Ric. It was blatantly obvious to Elena just how close these girls were.
'What do you expect? They're twins!' she thought to herself. Elena smiled and her heart warmed at the sight of the bond between the two of them. Elena looked back at Caroline, who had managed to pull herself together and stop herself crying.

"Just tell me what you can Car. I don't want to bring up painful memories. I can read the rest in your diaries," Elena continued.

"Okay," she mumbled. "But I'm going to call the guys first and tell them to meet us here. Lizzie and Josie haven't seen them in such a long time."

Caroline got up from the table and made her way outside. Elena watched through the window as Caroline took her phone out and called the guys back at the house. It was only about a minute or two later that she came back in to join them.

"They'll be about 20 minutes. Damon has to wait for Stefan to finish an errand for me first. That should give us plenty of time to talk about these two," Caroline smiled and wrapped her arm around Lizzie's shoulder and reached over a hand to Josie.

About 25 minutes later, the girls were interrupted by the sound of Damon's Chevy pulling up outside the cafe. Damon quickly spotted the table they were sat at and gave a tiny little wave in the girls direction.

"Oh here we go," Josie sighed, rolling her eyes, trying to contain the huge grin on her face.

"Don't you start!" Lizzie retorted, also smiling.

Elena looked over at Caroline, slightly puzzled at the girls different reactions to Damon's arrival. Caroline immediately understood Elena's confusion and laughed to herself,

"Damon isn't everyone's cup of tea Elena. Him and Josie have... an interesting relationship."

Damon and Stefan bustled through the Cafe doors, their loud entrance drawing everyone's attention and breaking the otherwise peaceful atmosphere. As they walked over to the table, Damon had his arms outstretched,

"Well would you look who it is. My favourite twins," he exclaimed. Lizzie got up from the table and walked over to give him a hug. Damon kissed her on the cheek,
"You look as lovely as I remember Lizzie" he whispered.

"Oh shush you!" Lizzie slapped him on the arm. Damon mocked her and grabbed his arm as if he was in agony. He looked over Lizzie's shoulder at Josie who was still sat at the table,

"Pleasure as always Josie," he called over to her, smirking. Josie didn't reply, she just smiled to herself. Stefan walked over to the table, kissed Caroline on the head on the way past, and then sat next to Josie. Damon walked over to the table with Lizzie.

"What's the deal with you two?" Elena inquired, pointing at Damon and Josie.

"I just find him immensely irritating dear, is that too hard to believe?" Josie asked Elena smiling. Elena looked across at Damon who was creating a huge amount of noise as he deliberately dragged a chair from another table and pulled it up next to Elena. The chair screeched along the floor, causing the rest of the people in the Cafe to look up from their tables to see what was going on. Lizzie was in fits of laughter as Damon deliberately created a nuisance. Stefan smiled and shook his head. Even Caroline tried to contain her laughter. Elena looked back over at Josie,

"Nope, it's not hard to believe at all," she replied, laughing.

The time had flown by and it was the middle of the evening before they finally talked about leaving the Cafe. As much as they tried to dodge the subject, it was Stefan who eventually spoke up about the reason they were back in town.

"Where are you two staying tonight? For Bonnie's funeral tomorrow..." he asked the twins. Josie looked across at Lizzie and then answered Stefan,

"Well there is a motel a few minutes away. We were going to stay there and then come on over to the cemetery in the morning," she replied. Caroline gasped,

"You two are not going to stay in some horrible, dirty motel! You can stay with us for as-long as you both like!" she exclaimed, "They can can't they?" she quickly asked Stefan quietly.

Damon leant over to Elena and whispered, "I don't even get a say and its my house!" Elena laughed,

"We all know that Caroline's the boss," she whispered back.

"I might be the boss but I'm not deaf!" Caroline laughed.

"Well lets take this lot back to the house then," Damon said to Stefan, looking at the four girls.
"All the boring people can ride with Caroline and the fun people can come with me," he added.
"Lizzie, Elena, you're with me. Caroline, you can take Stefan and the granny with you," Damon added cheekily.

"If I were 50 years younger Damon Salvatore, I'd kick your ass," Josie laughed.

"You tried that once Josie, it didn't work. You're the one that ended up on your ass remember?" Damon quickly snapped back, laughing. Elena was gobsmacked.

'Did Josie actually try and take Damon on? Even if she had lost, I would have loved to have seen that. I like her already,' Elena thought to herself.
