As the sun rose the next morning, the light crept in through the curtains and etched its way across the floorboards in Damon's room. Elena stirred as the light hit her face and opened her eyes just as Caroline marched in through the door and whipped open the curtains.

"Let's go Elena! You can't stay in bed any longer, we have a busy day ahead," Caroline chirped, her voice as loud and positive as always, just as Elena remembered. Elena groaned and rolled over, snuggling up to Damon and pulling the duvet over her head. Caroline walked over to the bed and placed some clothes on the end of it for Elena to wear.

"This is the last of my clothes you can borrow, after today you'll have a wardrobe full of your own," Caroline added.

"Brilliant... just what I want taking up all of the space in my room," Damon mumbled. Caroline looked over at him, unaware that he was even awake. Elena emerged from under the covers and gave Damon a playful punch on the arm, to which he smirked at.

"Thanks Car, can you give me a minute and then we can go? I'll have some breakfast whilst we're out," Elena replied, eyeing up the jeans and stripy top that Caroline had laid out for her to wear.

"Oh you don't need to worry about getting something whilst we're out, I've had Stefan up for hours making us all something for breakfast," she replied.

"Why am I not surprised?" Damon added, finally emerging from the covers. Caroline didn't reply, but simply stuck her tongue out back at Damon. Caroline left the two of them in bed and walked back downstairs to Stefan in the kitchen.

Damon rolled out of bed first, pulled on some trousers that were thrown across the floor and grabbed a clean, checkered t-shirt. As Damon buttoned up his shirt, Elena watched and admired at how gorgeous he looked in the morning- messy hair and all.

"Blondie will have both of our heads if you stay in bed and don't go shopping with her," Damon smiled, still buttoning his shirt. Elena grabbed the covers and rolled over onto her front,

"Can't I just stay here with you all day?" Elena whined, her head buried in the pillow. Damon walked over to the bed and flopped down next to Elena making her bounce.

"We have all the time in the world for that. Caroline has been really excited to take you shopping and meet... some important people," Damon replied. Elena looked up from the pillow,

"Please can you just give me a heads up about who these people are? I don't want to go in there not having a clue what I'm walking in to," she pleaded.

"I'm sorry princess, no can do. Caroline would kill me if I ruined the surprise. Plus, I expect she's listening to us anyway," Damon pointed to his ear and then pointed to the door. From all the way downstairs Caroline shouted back up at them,

"NO I'M NOT!!"

"You see what I mean?" Damon and Elena both laughed.

"Fine, I'll go," Elena surrendered, leaning forward to Damon for a kiss. She grabbed the clothes on the end of the bed and made her way to the bathroom to get changed.

Elena and Damon bustled through the kitchen door, giggling and whispering to each other. They stopped in their tracks at the sight of all of the food that had been prepared for them. Caroline was stood by the table looking over all of the food and looking very proud of herself. Stefan, on the other hand, looked rushed off his feet with various splodges of food covering the apron he was wearing. Elena walked over to the table and pulled out a chair whilst Damon walked over to Stefan and put his hand on his brothers shoulder,

"Well done brother, I never knew you could be so domesticated," Damon spluttered, trying hard to contain his laughter.

"You'll end up like this one day," Stefan taunted, smiling back at Damon.

"I can't wait Stefan, you know I wouldn't have it any other way," Damon replied, looking over at Elena who was eagerly tucking in to the fruit salad on the table. Damon joined Elena at the table and began picking at the food as well. Caroline left the two of them at the table, walked over to Stefan and placed a delicate kiss on his cheek.

"Guys this is amazing. Thank you so much. I don't think I can eat it all though," Elena said, looking over her shoulder at Caroline and Stefan.

"No problem..." Stefan replied, "I'm sure me and Damon will finish it off when you two have gone," Stefan continued, smiling back at Elena.

"Oh that's a good point, Elena we should really be going. I don't want to be late," Caroline added.

Elena quickly swallowed her mouthful of food and stood up from the table. She leaned over and kissed Damon. Damon pulled her over, causing her to fall into his lap. The moment was quickly interrupted by Stefan's no-so-subtle coughing. Elena pulled away from Damon and giggled. Damon quickly pulled her back down for another kiss,

"I'll see you later beautiful. Have a good day," he winked.

"You have fun too Caroline," Stefan added, kissing Caroline. Caroline and Elena made their way from the kitchen and into the hallway. Caroline grabbed her purse and keys from the table and Elena spotted a pair of boots that looked like Caroline's by the door and put them on.

"Bye guys!" Caroline shouted back to the kitchen before ushering Elena out of the front door and then closing the door behind them.

Shopping had been a whole day event, just as Elena had predicted. Both Elena and Caroline had numerous bags full of clothes, enough to full multiple wardrobes. It was mid afternoon and Caroline had said that they were meeting these people in one of the cafe's in town. Once they were in the cafe Caroline finally decided to explain things,

"How much of my diaries have you read Elena?" she asked nervously.

"Ummm... the first page..." Elena replied, not sure if this was the answer Caroline wanted to hear.

"Oh. Okay. Well just please keep an open mind and go with it. I'll explain everything later on. The people we are meeting are just popping back to Mystic Falls because of Bonnie's funeral tomorrow," Caroline glanced over at the window.
"That's them now!" she exclaimed, getting up from her seat.

Elena looked over to the door and watched as two elderly lades walked in, they must have been in their 70's Elena thought. One had blonde hair and the other was a brunette. Caroline was hugging and kissing both of them, clearly getting emotional at the sight of the two of them arriving. The three of them walked back over to Elena at the table. Elena stood up to greet them, even though she was so confused and had no idea who they were. Caroline was beaming and had tears rolling down her face,

"Elena, this is Josie and Lizzie Saltzman. Alaric and Jo's twins. Girls, this is the Elena I have told you about," Caroline concluded, looking at the twins and then gesturing to Elena.

Elena gasped.
