Chapter five
I lay on the labtable with my back exposed, I could see a guard to my left holding the small black remote to my collar almost threatening me. The main scientist turns to me and I can see a glint of pride as he looks at the vial in his hands.
" This, 003, is the product of my hard work and years of creation. It is a genetic infusion of genes from the species Panthera Tigris, Panthera Onca and Panthera Leo, the three big cats. I also added in some melanistic genes just for fun and to see what happens."
At the end of his speech he gave a cruel laugh, he was going to inject me with genes from a tiger, jaguar and lion, I had read in one of my books that melanism is the opposite of albinism, it is a black colour variety instead of white.
My hands trembled in fear when he placed the vial into the machine that had needles running down my spine, hundreds of needles placed between the vertebra into my spinal chord.
His hand flicked upwards across the switch and the machine thrummed to life, I was given no merciful painkiller and it crashed into my spine painfully, it flt like my spine was being ripped open and reconstructed, the wolfs bane he had me swallow to weaken my system burned like a dull ache in comparison.
The pain subsided from my spine and I sighed thinking it was over until two seconds later I let loose a blood-curdling scream that echoed in my ears, every cell in my body shattered and reformed to allow the new genes to enter my DNA. My scream faded as the pain did but another wave hit me as my skin tore and split and healed before tearing again, the scream that tore its way up my throat was the last thing I heard before I succumbed to the dark relief of unconsciousness.
