"I can't play volleyball anymore," Oikawa says... Or perhaps more accurately whispers. He hates to admit it to himself, and he especially hates to admit it to Kageyama... Kageyama who, once in college, he would be able to play against, once again. Or play with, depending if Kageyama decided to go to his university.

But now...

Now, they won't play against, or with each other in college.

Now, they won't be able to play against, or with each other ever again.

"I-I don't u-understand," Kageyama stammers, "You t-told me your k-knees were f-fine." Kageyama looks confused... VERY confused.

"I lied."

Now Kageyama looks hurt... With silent tears streaming down his face. "You l-lied to m-me? Why w-would you l-lie to me?" Kageyama is barely able to speak... His voice is shaking, hell, his whole body is shaking.

At first, Oikawa is tempted to lie... Is tempted to say something like "I didn't want you to worry." But he knows that Kageyama would see through that lie almost immediately. "I..." as he speaks, he can feel his eyes grow watery. "I lied so I could pretend that I was fine. So I could trick myself into playing through the pain... Into playing longer." So I could try to hold out for you.

"You love volleyball that much?" Kageyama asks. Oikawa, who is now crying, can only nod. To Oikawa's surprise, Kageyama says "good, me too." Slowly wrapping his arms around Oikawa, he adds, "I will play for the both of us."

With a boyfriend like Kageyama, Oikawa thinks he can accept his fate.

/btw in this Oikawa is in his first year of college so the age gap between him and Kageyama isn't that bad/
