The Next Day
Trevor
"Good morning twinkies!" My mom spoke with a huge smile on her face as Mila and I sat down at the breakfast table.
Mila and I stared at each other in confusion then stared back at momma. "Good morning," we answered hesitantly.
"I made you guys your favorite for breakfast this morning," she continued to smile as she placed our food in front of us.
Hunter smacked his lips, "How come they get special treatment? They came in after their curfew last night."
Promise stared at Hunter and rolled her eyes, "Nobody likes a snitch Hunter."
"Well since you like to snitch on people, you should know that they told me where they honestly were so I couldn't be mad at them." Momma said, kissing us both on the cheek.
In that moment, I knew exactly what she was doing. She's using reverse psychology to see if we'll confess to anything. Well I guess that's one good thing with my mom being a psychologist, I know when people are trying to play me. I got some news for her, that shit ain't gon' work for me and Mila. That shit only works with Promise and Hunter.
"Thanks momma," I responded, kissing her cheek.
Mila smiled, "Yeah, thanks mom." She said before digging into her plate.

"Mom was definitely trying to play us." I told Mila as we pulled into our school parking lot.
"I know," Mila laughed. "She thought she was slick."
I nodded my head in agreement, "Yeah, but that also means that she didn't believe a word we told her last night and she's got something else up her sleeve besides some reverse psychology."
Mila stopped laughing, "Do you have an idea to what it is?"
I shook my head, "Nope, our best bet would be to ask Dad, but he probably doesn't even know. Even if he did, he wouldn't tell us."
"Yeah, you're right. We're just gonna have to play it safe for a little while." Mila responded, getting out the car and I followed suit.
We walked inside the school and was immediately greeted by Langston. Hopefully he told Aunt Naya the same thing that we told our mom so we won't get caught up in our lies.
"What did you tell your parents last night?" Mila asked.
"I told them that I was with y'all studying at a friend's house," he told us.
I nodded my head, "Good job."
We continued to walk down the hall until this light-skinned nigga approached us. "Wassup Lil Red?" He spoke, looking at Mila. "It looks like it's fate, we saw each other again so I get the great privilege of knowing your name."
I laughed to myself because this nigga has no chance with her. She curves every nigga that crosses her path and this time there will be no exception.
Mila smiled a little, "It's Mila."
The nigga smirks, "Beautiful name for a beautiful lady." He looks over at Langston and I, "Who are they? Your boyfriends?"
I smacked my lips, "Does it matter who we are?"
Mila gave me a mean mug, "Tre be nice." She looked at Mr. Lightskin, "Karson this is my twin brother Trevor and our little cousin Langston."
"Yeah, just tell the random nigga who we are," I mumbled under my breath which made Langston laugh a little.
