Avery

I'm not gonna lie and say that Trevor isn't cute because that's definitely a lie. The nigga is fine, but I already know about his type. Trevor is the type of nigga to wine and dine, fuck, and then leave. He can be fine all he wants, but I don't have time for the bullshit. I am willing to give him a chance if he changes his ways, but even then I still might not talk to him because I refuse to get hurt again. Throughout the rest of the day he would conveniently find a way to get next to me and talk to me. I think he might be a little slow or he may just not care about what I said.

"Avery!" Trevor yells catching up to me.

I mentally roll my eyes before turning around and facing him. "Hello Trevor. What do I owe this surprise visit for?" I asked sarcastically.

"Well I heard you were pretty smart and I was wondering if you would consider tutoring me."

I stared at him, "How do I know that you really know that you need my help and you aren't just trying to use tutoring to get closer to me?"

He stared at me, probably trying to figure out what to tell me next. "Look, I know that I've been trying to flirt with you all day, but I'm serious this time. I really need your help." He goes in his pocket and pulls out a paper and shows it to me. Sure enough the paper had 50% on it.

I sighed, giving in. "Fine, I'll help you, but no funny business."

"You have my word," he smirked.

I just made a deal with the devil. "Okay, so I'll see you tomorrow. I can tutor you at my house, just follow me tomorrow after school."

"Okay, thanks I really appreciate it." He told me before walking away.

"Mmhmm," I mumbled before getting in my car.

I walked into my house after school and was immediately greeted by my six-month old son, Chance. A smile immediately formed on my face. "Hey Chancey," I cooed.

He gave me his famous gummy smile and crawled to me

He gave me his famous gummy smile and crawled to me. I picked him up and placed him on my hip. After I got pregnant with Chance and gave birth, my parents thought it would best if we moved Houston to Dallas to get a fresh start and so I could make a better life for my son. I made sure that he was situated before I got started on my homework.

Trevor

"Trevor why do you keep harassing that girl?" Mila asked me when I walked back over to the car.

I smirked, "I'm not harassing her sis, I just asked her to be my tutor."

She rolled her eyes, "What do you need tutoring for? You're smart."

"Yeah I know, but she doesn't know that." I responded, pulling out the same paper that I showed Avery.

Mila shook her head, "So you mean to tell me that you failed the test on purpose just to talk to a girl?"

Now that she says it like that, it does seem kind of stupid, but it'll be worth it. I just have to play this out correctly and try to change my ways so Avery will be mine before the school year is over. "Yeah, that's basically what happened." I responded.

"That's so stupid."

"Not as stupid as telling some random nigga our real names. You don't know who he is our what he's about, you should have given him our street names. That would have been smarter." I retorted. "Who knows what other type of information you gave him."

Mila stood there speechless for the first time in her life. Her silence alone told me that she gave Mr. Lightskin too much information. I shook my head before getting in the car and she followed suit.

"Mila how much information did you give ole dude?" I asked as I peeled out of the school parking lot.

She sighed, "Well I didn't give him the name of our parents..."

I shook my head, "What were you thinking Mi? God forbid if you told the nigga what you do outside of school."

"Of course I wouldn't do that I'm not stupid," she said smacking her lips and crossing her arms.

Hell I couldn't tell, if she was that quick to tell a practical stranger our real names and about our families, then I have no idea what she won't tell. "Could've fooled me," I retorted.

"Whatever," she mumbled under her breath.

She finally shut up because she knows that I'm right.
