Me and Alex kiss. We are finally free! I smile on her lips and she smiles in mine.

Drew coughs. I ignore him. He coughs again.

I lift a hand off Alex's back and hold up one figure to him, telling him 'one minute'

"Dude! One minute? Really? Let's get out of here!" He laughs.

I pull away from Alex sadly and we run out the door, ignoring the crys from the end of the hallway.
.....
We run through the woods. Finally free of a burden that as been there so long, I forgot it was there until it was lifted off my shoulders. I feel about 10 pounds lighter!

We burst out of the trees to a clearing, Ella and Nita stumble and fall. I look at Alex and smile but the smirk fades when I see tiers about to slip out of her eyes.
I run twords her.

"What happened? Why are you crying?" I ask in a whisper.
She shows me her palms and I recoil as though I'm feeling her pain.

She has deep, bloody burns in her hands.

She caught the stick! I was to exited to wonder how she manedged to do what she did, now I know.

"You cought the stick." I say awstucked.

She just nods her head. And she finally let's the teirs fall. She leans her head in on my shoulder. I feel my shirt beginning to soak. The others walk over with worried looks on their faces. I give them one look that says 'you'll know later' and they nod and walk away.

Alex starts crying even harder and I rub her back with my hand. She lifts her head and looks at my face. Tears well up again as I look into her beautiful green eyes and I can tell she is about to start crying again.

But she smiles. She smiles and she pulls me to the ground to sit down. Then she starts crying again but smiles at the same time.

"We're out." She whispers. "And we're out together!"

She leans in and kisses me. A kiss with so much enthusiasm behind it I'm slightly surprised at first. But I return it. I sink into her. I can't help it! I love her! She wraps her arms around my neck and I wrap my arms around her back. She kisses me even more fiercely and I kiss her back. God, I love her!
