I wake up and feel something weird. Something I haven't felt in a few days but was so absent I got used to it not being there. And that feeling is nothing! The burnig in my hands is gone!
I look up at Ethan's face and see that he is already awake. His eyes are open and when I look at him he smiles. And I kiss him.
After a few minutes he asks, "so how are your hands? I'm guessing they're better seeing as you are in a good mood."
I look down at my hands and see that they have healed a lot over night. I open and close them with only a little pain. Only a little pain! They don't hurt as much anymore!
I look back twords Ethan's face and he is smiling even bigger. "Am I correct?" He asks.
"Yes!" I say with a smile. I lay my head back on his chest and he combs out my knotted hair with his fingures.
.....
The girl who thanked me yesterday is walking next to me as we travel through the woods. We know there are other people out there, we figure we just need to make it through the woods to find them.
"So how are your hands?" She asks, and I show her. "Wow! They look a lot better than before."
"They feel a lot better, too." I say.
My hands now have little red scars on them rather than deep bloody burns. And they don't hurt.
"I know I've already said this, but, I don't think I'll be able to say it enough. Thank you." Leah looks me right in the eye.
And that's when we hear a noise.
