Watching Livia sleep is one of the things I love doing. She's healing pretty well, and last night was a statement to her recovery. She had been reluctant to let me touch her like that, because of the horrible memories she had of Kevin and Kaitlin and the fact that she had been pregnant. She had really started to open up to me about wanting to start a family. However, I'm reluctant to do so, after everything that's happened. I don't want to see her in anymore pain. She moaned, as her eyes fluttered open. "Roman," she whispered, "thank you for last night baby."
"Anything for you sweetheart."
Groaning as she sat up, she buried her face into my chest, as I helped her out of bed. "I know it was worth it wasn't it?" I asked.
"Yeah, it definitely was. I was just wondering though, I know you're hesitant about starting a family, but Roman, I really want to."
"Livia, I just don't want to see you get hurt."
"I won't with you."
"Let's not rush into this. You still need to heal."
She ducked her head, "I know, I just thought, that you'd want to start a family with me."
"Livia," I started to say.
"Just leave me alone."
Later that day, I was sitting downstairs watching the news, and Livia came down the stairs. She walked past me, into the kitchen. "Livia, can we talk?"
"Just leave me alone."
"Livia, I'm sorry, I'm just not ready. And I highly doubt you are either, especially after..." She slapped me, tears streaming down her face.
"How dare you even say that? I thought you were different than them, but you're not."
"Livia, I only meant..."
"I don't care what you meant, we're through Roman."
She ran back upstairs, following her, I watched silently as she grabbed her stuff, stuffing it into her suitcase. As she dragged her suitcase down the hall, I tried to take it from her, only to have her swat my hand away. "Livia, please, just listen to me, I didn't mean for it to come out like that. I love you, and I just meant that, after everything you've been through, you just need to take time to really be ready."
"It's over Roman, I have been ready for a long time to be a mom, when I found out, you have no idea," she said, bolting out the door, tears streaming down her face. As her car pulled away, I longed to run after her.
I called my parents house.
"Hello," my mom said.
"Mom, I fucked up with Livia."
"Why? What happened?"
"She told me she wanted to start a family."
"Well that's great. You two would make great parents to any kids you had."
"That's the thing, I told her we aren't ready to start a family."
"Oh Roman, I'm so sorry, but look at this from her point of view. She has had some bad things happen, especially when she has the miscarriage. I don't know if she told you, but she told me that she was ready to be a mom. She has been for awhile, and was really looking forward to it. But then that was taken away from her."
"She said we're through."
"Just give her time."
"I love her mom. I really do."
"Then let her be for the time being, when she's ready to talk to you, she'll come back. And honey, I know she loves you."
"I'm sure she'll stop by to see you."
"I know she will," she said, as I heard my dad yell in the background, "Lisa, Livias here."
"Go, I'll talk to you later mom. I love you."
"I love you too honey, and I promise, I'll try to smooth things over with her as much as I can, but you will have to do alot of work to gain back her trust."
"Bye," I muttered.
