Phil danced around the auditorium, singing along to the happy music playing. "What the actual fuck are you doing, Phil?" Dan asked, offering Phil a small bagel. Phil took the food and stuffed it in his mouth. "I'm just practicing my part for the play." Phil said, swallowing his bagel. "Oh, yeah. You have a big kissing scene with that girl, Zoe, right?" Phil eagerly nodded and blushed a little. "Yeah! My first kiss will be on stage. With a beautiful girl. Well, I for one, am very excited. Are you?"
Dan shrugged and yawned, "Well," he started. "The thing is. I don't think Zoe is here. So her understudy will have to kiss you instead." Phil sighed, "Well, who's her understudy?" "Hmm, you'll find out sometime this afternoon. Later, Phil!" And with that, Dan took off and ran behind the stage curtains.

"Everybody, everybody, gather around!" Instructed their drama teacher. Dan, Phil, and everybody else made their way towards her. "So, as you can all see," she started to say. "Zoe is not here. I guess her understudy has to take her place. Where is Zoe's understudy?" Dan shyly stepped foward, "Present," he said. Phil's face went pale. His cheeks turned an unbelievable shade of red. "What?" Phil asked, stepping foward. "That means..that means I have to kiss Dan. Dan's a boy! Dan's my best frend. People will think it's weird for two highschool boys to kiss. Although I'm not complaining." "It's fine," she stated. "Zoe is gone so the show must go on. Dan, Phil, you two go to the back to get ready for that kiss!"
Dan and Phil awkwardly made their way to the back of the curtain, not saying a word to eachother. That was until Phil turned to Dan with a shy smile, "What did you mean when you said 'I'm not conplaining'?" "I don't know. I think I realized that my first kiss won't be on stage with a girl. It will be with my best friend, instead." Dan nervously chuckled and sighed, "Yeah, well. I hope you like my kiss." "Me too." And that's all they said to eachother until the show started.

During the play..."Sometimes I wonder what it's like to be happy," Dan croaked through fake tears as he was remembering his lines. "Don't ever wonder what that'll feel like again," Phil answered, stepping foward. "Why?" Dan asked, wiping his tears and gazing into Phil's eyes. "Because. You don't have to wonder anymore. I'll make you the happiest person on Earth. If you give me a kiss.." The crowd gasped, as they continued to watch the play. "A kiss?" Dan asked, his cheeks turning red. "Well, sure. Anything for you, my love."
Dan winced and hesitantly leaned in for a kiss. Phil closed the gap between them and their lips touched. Dan closed his eyes as he proceeded to kiss his best friend. "I love you.." Phil said to Dan.
But the best part is, the "I love you" wasn't in the script...
