Air, glorious air

"Don't put yourself in any life threatening situations."

"Yes Leon."

"And don't piss anyone important off therefore putting yourself in life threatening situations."

"Yes Leon."

"And don't reveal any information about where we are hidden."

"Yes Leon."

"And if you are put into danger, press the emergency button, on the radio transmitter hidden in your pocket and we will come and get you."

"Yes Leon."

"And-"

"Leon, I get the point." I say to my older brother who has been solidly hugging me for 5 minutes. At some point I may mention that he is cutting off all the blood circulation to anything lower than my stomach and my oxygen levels are low. You know, the important stuff.

"I know. But if you die, it'll be my fault." He replied. I don't think he has shown this much emotion towards me since I fell out that window.

"Don't you mean, when she dies." The helpful voice of his girlfriend adds from beside us.

"I'm happier with if." I mention, subtly clawing at my neck for air.  The rest of the team enter the room.

"Right. Here is the bag." Jaimo said, placing a bag at my feet. "And here is the cat. The tracker and microphone is attached to his collar."

"Right." I rasped, my face slowly turning blue from suffocation.

"You will be in there approximately three days before we come and get you and Bluebird out." He said, turning to Lucy who was ticking things off a check list. "Three days, get that down."

"And Leon. We would prefer to send her in alive." He finished, turning back to the affectionate scene between me and my brother. "So please don't suffocate her before the mission has even begun."

"Oh right." My, almost tearful, brother said, letting me go. I fell backwards, clutching the wall for support as I breathed in.

"Oh air! I had almost forgot what air was like."

"Shut up." Leon replied, punching my arm. And he's back.

"Right. Come on. I would rather leave today instead of this time next year." Casey said, impatiently. I sighed. This is my moment. Like that bit in Titanic where they lean off the ship or like when E.T and the kid touch hands and the whole audience cries. She could at least let me enjoy it.

She drags me outside and we climb into a black car. She climbs into the drivers seat obviously. I sit next to her.

As we pull away from the curb, she leans over and turns the radio on. Some annoying pop song plays loudly. Bluebird, who is sitting in the bag at my feet, starts purring and dribbling. I swear that cat is like a feline waterfall. So I sit here, deaf and covered in cat dribble.
