Wings that Spread Across Time Ch. 3

  Fem!reader x One Piece (Straw Hat crew)

I am pretty sure that the past two chapters were only that long by luck; but still, I never know if I might run into a writer's block, or if I'll be too lazy to write for a while, so there might be times where I take longer to post the next chapter. I am trying my best make my stories appeal to everyone and keep the characters in place, but sometimes there might be moments they will be out of character to move the story in the proper direction. 

Story set after the Fishman Island Arc and before the Punk Hazard Arc

Warning: Cursing is used in this story for keeping characters in place, but it is very minor.

Disclaimer: Oda Eiichiro (Eiichiro Oda) owns One Piece, not me, but the story is mine.

This is not a romance oriented fanfiction! There are parts that may hint a character liking another character, but this is not mainly focused on romance, rather it is just a story with the reader in it.

"WHAT?!" The crew's eyeballs almost popped out of their eyes, minus Robin who only looked mildly shocked, from surprise at (Name)'s statement.

"Y-you're...." Chopper started.

"a-an......." Usopp gaped.

"ANGEL?!" Luffy exclaimed.

"But you don't have wings." Zoro said bluntly. "I thought angels have feathered wings."

(Name) nodded before adding, "Only if you are a pure-blood or half-blood angel. Otherwise you can create them at will. See?" She said as wings materialized on her back. The feathers closer to her back were a light (f/c), and turned transparent as they reached the tips of her wings.

Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper all danced around saying, "She has wings! She's an angel! How cool!"

"But I thought angels were mythical creatures...." Robin stated.

(Name) shook her head. "They were once a race that thrived alongside 'gods' about a few centuries ago, but were wiped from the records of history." She stared at the sky for a brief moment before continuing. "They were the servants of the 'gods' that helped with managing the world centuries ago, but for an unknown reason, they eventually ceased to exist."

Nami caressed her chin with thought. "So you're telling us that you are the last angel from that age?"

"No. As I said before, I am not a pure-blood or half-blood angel. There are three existences with angelic powers: purebloods, who are born from two angels, half-bloods, who are born from a mortal and an angel, or mortals, who inherit an angel's soul or consumes their body." (Name) explained. Her wings then dispersed into the air, raining down small specks of (f/c). "I inherited an angel's soul and also consumed their body."

Everyone looked shocked. (Name) smiled. "Does that scare you? I would not be surprised if you are scared of me. I will leave if you want. " She offered.

Luffy recovered first and said, "No way! Even if you've done something scary, I still want you to join my crew, cause you're super cool and really strong!" He then childishly pouted with his cheeks puffed out.

"But are you not scared of me? I ate an angel to gain powers." (Name) warned.

"Why would we be scared of you? Everyone here has a past, and a reason for being here." Nami said.

"You even SUPER defended our ship!" Franky added with his usual pose.

"You're helping me with my equipment! I could never hate you!" Chopper cried.

Robin also put her hand on (Name)'s shoulder and said, "You don't have to be afraid of anyone here on this ship hating you. They're very accepting to almost everyone."

(Name) felt amazed. She never thought that if she met anyone, that they wouldn't hate her or use her. "B-but why?" She asked. "If you keep me with you, you will be the ones who get hurt."

Zoro harrumphed. "Who do you think I am? I never lose to anyone."

"It's okay, (Name)-san! We can all defend ourselves!" Brook said with a "Yo-ho-ho-ho!'

Sanji removed the cigarette in his mouth and exhaled smoke. "If it's for (Name)-chwaan, I'll do anything!"

"Y-you all....are not scared of me?" (Name) asked again.

Luffy grinned. "Shi-shi-shi-shi-shi! Don't be afraid! We're friends after all!"

(Name) made an relieved expression. "I-I never thought I would find people who would accept me...." She looked at the crew's faces, all of them with accepting expressions. I need to tell them.... She thought. Everything.

Her thoughts were cut off by a sudden quaking that shook the ship violently.

Franky stumbled and said, "Whoa! What's that?!"

Nami looked over the railing at the sea. "T-that's- Kyahhh!" The ship jerked forward again and she almost fell over the railing.

"Nami-san!" Sanji jumped out and caught her before she completely fell over.

"W-w-what is it n-now?!" Usopp trembled in fear.

Robin put her hand under her chin. "Oh my, I wonder if it's a sea monster trying to eat us alive."

Chopper ran around in a circle screaming, "Aaahhhh! I don't wanna be eaten by a sea monster!"

Zoro put his hand on his swords, and looked around for the first sight of an enemy.

Luffy cracked his knuckles, ready for a fight. "I'm ready anytime! Come on out, whatever you are!" He shouted at the bubbling surface of the sea.

(Name) cautiously watched the surface with a bad feeling.

The ship lurched forward again and everyone fell over on the ground. "Damn this thing! I just finished repairing the Sunny the other day!" Franky complained while getting up.

The surface of the water bubbled furiously until the branch of a tree surfaced. "Wha-?" Sanji looked at the tree that was emerging with a confused look. "A tree?"

(Name) then realized what the shaking was caused by. "A sunken island!"

"A sunken island?" Robin asked.

(Name) nodded and explained, "It is land that was taken from an island and follows sea currents, rising with the tides. There are a lot in this area you call the New World."

As she said that, more parts of land surfaced and pushed the Sunny back, knocking everyone off their feet once again. Remnants of what seemed to be ruins became visible, followed by many sea plants soaked with seawater.

"It's like a mix of an underwater forest and land structures." Robin observed. "They seem to be quite old too."

"Some sunken islands are underwater for a long time, so there are sometimes older buildings." (Name) said. The shaking stopped as the island set in.

Luffy stood up with a "Shi-shi-shi-shi!" and pointed towards the island. "I smell adventure! Let's go! Sanji, pirate lunchbox!"

Sanji gave a thumbs up and headed towards the kitchen. "Roger, captain. Anyone else going with him?"

"I'm going. I want see if there's any history on the island." Robin said.

"I also want to go. I need to check something there." (Name) declared.

"Repairs on the Sunny can wait. I need some sea plant material for something I'm making so I'm going too." Franky announced.

Zoro yawned out of boredom and walked away. "I got some more training to do."

Brook refused since he needed to practice for his newest song.

Sanji turned to Nami, Usopp, and Chopper. "Any of you guys want to go?"

Usopp shakily shook his head and claimed, "I have allergic-to-unknown-islands-osis."

"Me too!" Nami and Chopper both exclaimed.

"Okay, four pirate lunchboxes coming up." Sanji confirmed. A few minutes later, he came out with four large lunchboxes and handed one to each person. "You'd better keep Robin-chan and (Name)-chan safe."

"You can SUPERRR count on us!" Franky reassured him.

Luffy was jumping around chanting, "Island, island, island! Adventure, adventure, adventure!" As they anchored the Sunny, Luffy stretched his arm and grabbed a nearby sea plant, launching himself far onto the beach of the island. "Oi! Hurry up you guys!" He called to them.

Franky hopped from the deck and landed with a thud, while (Name) and Robin took the stairway of legs that Robin materialized out of the side of the ship. Luffy started moving forward into the forest of sea plants when they caught up.

Franky stuck out his small mechanical hand used for delicate crafting, and slowly collected some parts of sea plants into a small plastic bag. Looking up to check where Luffy was, Franky shouted to Luffy, "Straw Hat! Don't get too far away from us! We don't want to have to come looking for you later!"

"Ooh! What's that? That plant looks interesting!" He said, completely ignoring Franky and heading off in another direction.

Franky facepalmed, "Ugh, he doesn't listen, does he? I'm gonna make sure he doesn't do anything rash, but what are you guys going to do?" He asked Robin and (Name).

"Robin-san and I are both looking for archaeological ruins so we will be travelling together." (Name) retorted. "Is that okay?"

"Sure, but be sure to contact us if anything happens, okay?" Franky said as he handed them a small device with a button and metal tube of some sort. "When you press the button, a flare will shoot from this tube and tells us your location. Use it if anything dangerous or important happens. We'll do the same, so keep your eyes peeled for any flares." He held up another one of the same device and stored it in his shoulder.

Robin took the device and smiled. "Thanks Franky." The two women then walked towards the ruins they spotted before.

"10,678! 10,679! 10,680!" Zoro counted as he swung a massive weight four times his size.

"Zoro!" He heard Nami shout from the deck. He then looked out the window of the crow's nest and noticed Nami gesturing for him to come down onto the deck. He quickly wiped his sweat, slipped on an open shirt, and climbed down from the crow's nest.

"What is it?" He asked slightly annoyed.

She pointed in the direction of the sunken island, "Chopper says that he smells unknown creatures approaching the ship. We looked around but we can't see anyone. Can you go to check to make sure that they're not a threat?"

Zoro sighed and said, "Can't you just ask Idiot Eyebrow to go check?"

"Sanji-kun left the ship a few minutes after the others did, saying that he needed to restock on food because of Luffy." Nami told him. "He's probably already met up with the others on the island."

"Fine." Zoro gave up and hopped down onto the beach. He looked around, and didn't hear or see anything, yet. He could sense another presence approaching the ship with his Haki, and put one hand on his swords. "Oi! Whoever's there, we know you're there, so stop pointlessly hiding and show yourself!"

He heard a sigh, followed by a gruffy voice, "I guess present day humans have gotten more skilled over the past hundred years. I concealed myself well you know." Then, as if materializing out of thin air, a bluish figure appeared in front of him. Zoro noticed it was a fishman, due to the similar appearance to the ones at Fishman Island, with a resemblance to an angler fish. Large jaws, milky eyes, and a small dorsal fin sticking out with a round orb at the end. He also concluded that this fishman was very old, with white hair and beard. "I can't let our existence be known to others.... Sorry human, but you'll have to die here!" He cried. Zoro noticed several other fishmen appearing and baring their fangs.

"You can try!" Zoro said as he pulled out his three swords.

"Zoro! What's happening out there?" Usopp shouted.

Zoro smiled in excitement at the thought of the coming fight and replied, "Nothing much, we just have a little company."
