Wings that Spread Across Time Ch. 8

Fem!reader x One Piece (Straw Hat Crew)

I finally submitted something in my writer's block. Though I think I'm still kinda confused as to what to write next, I hope you enjoy this extremely late update! (I'm pretty sure this would be considered a filler)

Story set after Fishman Island Arc and before Punk Hazard Arc

Warning: Some cursing is used in this story (not always this specific chapter)

This is not a romance oriented fanfiction! There are parts that may hint a character liking another character, but this is not mainly focused on romance, rather it is just a story with the reader in it.

As expected, the scuffle at the previous town had prompted a bounty to be issued to the newest Straw Hat member at the acknowledgement of her dangerous powers. Of course, the Straw Hats didn't know that yet due to being on the sea.

The morning was completely normal; if you call eating almost 1/4 of the food supply a normal breakfast, but the wind was still and everyone was doing what they normally did on windless days.

After the daily sparring match with Zoro, (Name) practiced the guitar with Brook, before joining Usopp in his workshop after lunch.

Usopp showed (Name) the finished product with pride. "Now all I have to do is test to make sure it works."

(Name) stared at the gadget with wonder and gladly produced a feather for Usopp. "Here, this feather is a boost feather. By adding it to something, the power increases."

Usopp happily took the feather in his fingers, and delicately inserted it into the feather-shaped cast.

"Power blessing, I invoke thee." (Name) murmured and the feather faintly glowed red.

Usopp pressed the switch on the device, which whirred to life and stuck it on his slingshot. The two headed outside onto the deck. Earlier, Usopp had requested Franky to set up a mock target really far away. If the device really worked, Usopp should be able to shoot the projectile without any added boosters for the flying distance.

(Name) looked at the target with a telescope. It was placed on a makeshift raft and was made with reinforced metal. "That's miles away. If the boost works, you will be able to hit it without any extra extensions."

Usopp gulped with excitement before snapping on his sniper goggles and loaded his Kuro Kabuto with a simple explosive projectile. "If this works, it'll be a great addition to my gadgets!"

Luffy bounded over and shouted, "Oi, you guys! Usopp is testing out his new device!" At the announcement, most of the other crew members headed over to the railing.

"Ooh, ooh!" Chopper jumped up and down. "Is he going to shoot that target from here?!"

"Oh, our sniper's going to show off, eh?" Sanji grinned and leaned forward onto the railing. "Good luck there, Usopp!"

Franky pushed up his sunglasses and said, "The target's been set at the distance you requested. I also reinforced it so it won't break that easily."

Usopp drew in a breath before drawing back the string and aiming at the target.I won't miss unless the boost doesn't work, so I should just aim normally. He thought to himself. After finding a satisfactory angle, Usopp released the string and the projectile. The projectile flew with extreme speed and pushed everyone back with a shock wave. Even Usopp was surprised and fell back onto Luffy and Chopper. Far away in the distance, the sound of the explosion was loud and clear as the target was blown to smithereens.
