Fem!reader x One Piece (Straw Hat Crew)
The first few chapters have been quite focused on main story events, so it's time for some side stories! (Don't worry, they are not fillers!) It's just the reader needs to interact with the rest of the crew (Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Franky, and Brook) to build plot, so there won't be that much fighting action, mostly exploration, adventures, and daily life. Enjoy!
Story set after Fishman Island Arc and before Punk Hazard Arc
Warning: Some cursing is used in this story (not always this specific chapter)
Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece or its characters, Oda Eiichiro (Eiichiro Oda) does; the story is mine though. This is not a romance oriented fanfiction! There are parts that may hint a character liking another character, but this is not mainly focused on romance, rather it is just a story with the reader in it.

"How many days has it been?" Nami sighed as she sipped a glass of orange juice Sanji had made earlier.
The past few days had been almost completely windless so the Sunny had been aimlessly drifting around. It was also by chance that the weather the past few days were mild and not too dangerous to handle, with only the occasional storm here or there.
"I think it's been about four." Robin answered. The two ladies were resting on a beach chair under a parasol and looking at the clear blue sky. On the lawn, Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were running around shouting something about flying fish.
Nami sat up and stretched her limbs. "Peaceful days are nice once in a while too, but at this rate our food storage will run out from our idiot captain's appetite, even if we count the sea monster meat Sanji and (Name) brought back." Taking a quick look at her Log Poses, she sighed again and laid back down. "None of the Logs have changed, but we can't go anywhere without the wind blowing. Ah, here comes (Name)." She noticed (Name) approaching with a tray in her hands. "Where's Sanji-kun?"
(Name) thought for a bit before answering, "He was teaching me how to make cream puffs and I asked to bring them out to you. He did object a bit, but I convinced him anyway." She placed the tray with delicately made cream puffs on the table nearby. "Here, some of them may be a bit ugly since it is my first time making them, but they should taste fine."
Nami smiled and said, "Thanks, don't worry about it." She reached over, took one, and bit into it. Her eyes widened and she said, "Wow! These are amazing! You're getting better and better at cooking! You'll be a master in no time!"
(Name) slightly blushed at the praise and shook her head. "I still have a lot to learn; I do not think I can surpass Sanji-san though."
"You don't have to." Robin told her as she also took a cream puff. "Just be yourself and do what you like."
(Name) gave thanks and headed back towards the kitchen to return the tray to Sanji, who was washing the dishes from this morning's breakfast. "Thanks, (Name)-chan. You can leave the tray there." He pointed to the counter.
Placing the tray carefully on the counter, (Name) noticed a plate extra cream puffs. "What are you going to do with those, Sanji-san?" She asked.
Sanji turned to see what she was talking about, and saw the cream puffs. "Oh, those? I was going to give them to the idiots running around outside after I finish the rest of the dishes."
"Can I take these to them?" (Name) requested.
"I don't want to trouble you with that, but if you really want to that's okay." Sanji replied.
"Okay! Thank you, Sanji-san!" (Name) quickly thanked him and went outside with the plate of cream puffs. Searching for the three running around, she headed across the lawn and called, "Luffy-san! Usopp-san! Chopper-san! I have cream puffs for you!"
At the sound of food, the three ran over and started scarfing down the cream-filled pastries with delight.
"These are delicious!!!" Luffy exclaimed through a mouthful of cream.
"You're right! These are really good!" Usopp agreed with him.
"I feel like I'm in heaven..." Chopper's face showed extreme bliss as he took another bite.
(Name) happily watched the three empty the plate in seconds. As the three lay on the lawn satisfied, she picked up the plate and went back to the kitchen.
"Tell Sanji thanks for the tasty cream puffs!" Luffy shouted. "Yours were also really good too!"
Nodding, (Name) re-entered the kitchen and gave Sanji the plate. "Luffy thanks you for the delicious cream puffs." She added.
Sanji grinned and said, "It's nothing really, there were just a lot of extras from today's lesson. I must say, I'm impressed with how fast you learn though."
(Name) smiled at the praise and said, "Sanji-san is also very good at teaching." Taking a look at the watch on her wrist that Franky had made for her, she realized that it was past ten. "Ah, I'll help you later with lunch. I promised Brook I would listen to his newest song, and I am already late."
Sanji waved with understanding, "'Kay, see you later then."
(Name) made her way to the quarterdeck to where she promised Brook she would listen to his song. As soon as she reached the top of the stairs, she spotted Brook sitting there with his green shark guitar. He turned his skeletal head at the sound of footsteps on the quarter deck and said,
"Ah, (Name)-san, there you are."
"Sorry for keeping you waiting, Brook-san." (Name) bowed her head in apology.
Brook then got all flustered and said, "No, no, no. It's alright, I wasn't waiting that long."
"Then let me hear it, your newest song." (Name) sat down and waited for Brook to start.
"Of course, I have put my heart and soul into this song.... Not that I have a heart anyway, Yo-ho-ho-ho-ho!" Brook carefully picked up his guitar and strummed a string to test it before continuing. Taking a breath, he began,
"Two years.....
Promise of two years.....
The time cannot turn back.....
It can only move forward.....
Where a vast sea awaits!
What pushes us forward is not desire.....
Nor the rewards that come after.....
No, rather what it is, is....
The hopes and dreams that we carry with us!
New World!!!!!"
Brook breathed out and strummed the last note before bowing.
"That was amazing, Brook-san!" (Name) started clapping and ran up to Brook. "I have never heard a more beautiful song than that in my entire life." She gave Brook a hug and patted his back.
"Thank you, (Name)-san. By the way, since you seem to have a touch for music, would you like to help me compose the rest?" Brook offered.
(Name)'s face brightened at that and she joyfully nodded her head, "Of course! I want everyone to hear your beautiful music, so I'll help." Looking at her watch again, she headed towards the stairs. "I need to help Sanji-san with lunch. See you at lunch, Brook-san."
(Name) found Sanji in the kitchen already sauteing onions in a pan. Smelling the scent of spices mixed with brownish onions, she noticed a large pot boiling vegetables and a pan of bite-sized sea monster meat. "Are you making curry?" she asked quietly to not disturb Sanji.
Sanji turned to the voice and said, "Oh, (Name)-chwaan! Yes, I am making curry! I'm finishing up with the onions, so can you grate some of the apples there for the flavoring?"
"Okay." (Name) started grating the apples and grinned a bit. Only when involved with cooking did Sanji act normally around women. Taking the grated pieces, she brushed them into a bowl and placed it next to the large pot of curry sauce.
"Thanks. Here, watch how I mix the ingredients together." Sanji then proceeded to carefully add the curry sauce base, followed by the bullion, and stirred the thickened mixture before adding the browned onions, then the seasoned meat, and stirred again.
"The most important part you see, is when you're stirring the sauce. If you apply too much force or too little, the quality of the mixed ingredients will change. If you want a nice thick sauce, you must apply a little more force so that they will properly mix together." He explained as he stirred the mixture.
"After letting stirring the sauce and letting the ingredients mix, add the grated apples for subtle flavoring, and let it sit a bit longer to let the flavors set in." He dumped the grated apples and mixed the sauce. "Keep the flame low too, or else the sauce at the bottom of the pot will burn."
(Name) watched the thick sauce simmer with fascination and her mouth watered at the aromatic spices that filled the air.
After a few more minutes, Sanji ladled out some of the sauce onto a small plate, and handed it to (Name). "Try some."
(Name) gladly took the plate and tasted the golden colored sauce. As soon as the thick stew entered her mouth, she could immediately feel the spices spread over her taste buds. The potatoes and carrots were boiled to perfection, and the juicy meat was tender and flavorful. "This is... amazing! I have never eaten curry as delicious as this before! The spices are well blended and every single carrot, potato, and even the meat are full of flavor!"
Sanji grinned and said, "I'm glad it's to your tastes. Just wait a bit at the table while I serve everyone's fill." He then started placing equal amounts of curry and rice on multiple plates while adding a small touch of basil leaf to complete each dish.
(Name) decided to call the others, and went out to the lawn deck. "Lunchtime! We are having curry rice today!"
At her call, everyone else on the ship perked up and headed towards the dining room. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper were all happily shouting, "Curry rice, Curry rice!" as they entered the dining room.
"Shut up, you idiots! You're not allowed to eat until the ladies get here first!" Sanji yelled at them.
Robin and Nami slowly made their way towards the dining room. "Ufufufu." Robin giggled quietly.
Sanji let the guys in after Robin, Nami, and (Name) were seated, with some snarky comments from Zoro, which caused a small argument before Sanji served everyone the plates of curry rice. "Here, eat up! It's my special curry after two years of training!"
Luffy drooled at the aromatic smell of the golden curry. "Sanji's curry! Smells delicious! Let's eat!"
The next few minutes seemed almost like a party, even though it was only noon. Luffy was clearing his plate at hyper speed, constantly needing refills, which caused Usopp and Chopper to clap at the sight of Luffy eating everything off his plate in seconds. Zoro was drinking sake in the day, Franky was rearranging his hair every few seconds, while Nami was yelling at the others to settle down during meal time. Brook somehow got food on himself, Sanji scolded Zoro for drinking in the daytime, and Robin simply watched the scene with amusement.
Spending the last week with the Straw Hats had taught (Name) many things. One: any meal, whether breakfast or dinner, turned into a party with the crew. Two: the crew had extreme faith in their captain. And three: this was the best pirate crew (Name) had ever seen in her entire life.
"Hey (Name)! Come watch Luffy try and clear an entire plate in three seconds!" Usopp gestured for (Name) to come over and watch.
"He's really gonna do it!" Chopper said with excitement.
"Really?! No way!" (Name) jumped over and joined the two with anticipation.
Luffy sat in front of an overly large serving of curry rice, ready to start at Usopp's mark.
Usopp held his arm in front of the plate. "Ready..... go!" At 'go,' Luffy started devouring the curry while Usopp counted, "Three....two....one!" At 'one,' Luffy dropped the empty plate on the table and sighed with satisfaction.
"Ah, that was a good meal." Luffy said while rubbing his inflated stomach.
"That was three seconds! You're so cool, Luffy!" Chopper said with admiration.
"Not bad Luffy, but do you know of the time I ate a whole sea monster in under half a minute?" Usopp boasted.
"Really?!" Chopper exclaimed, believing the outrageous lie.
"Of course I did! I can remember even now, the soft chewy texture of the meat as I cut it into many pieces." Usopp continued, impressing Chopper even more. Luffy digested the food in a few minutes and drooled as he listened to Usopp's story.
"I wanna eat raw sea monster meat too...... Sanji! Next time we catch a sea monster, make sashimi!" Luffy requested.
"Okay." Sanji answered as he collected the finished plates.
"Do you need help?" (Name) asked, quickly standing up.
Sanji shook his head and said, "No, it's fine. There aren't that many dishes, so you can go play with the others."
"Hear that, (Name)? Let's go fish new things into the aquarium!" Usopp elbowed (Name).
"Ooh! I want a squid!" Luffy proclaimed.
Chopper's eyes sparkled, and he imagined a squid in the aquarium. "But why squid?" He wondered out loud.
"Grilled squid is super tasty!" Luffy told him. "Plus it's funny looking."
Usopp brought out his fishing rod and bait. "How are we going to catch a squid that's usually deep-sea?"
Luffy thought a bit before answering, "Don't we just sink like we did at Fishman Island?"
"Wrong!" Usopp smacked Luffy on the head with a face of anger. "We don't have a coating anymore, you idiot! Even if we could sink, we can't make a coating so our ship'll break!"
"Then......" Luffy started. "Just fish for it."
Usopp smacked his head again. "I just told you it's deep underwater! Weren't you listening?!"
"Usopp-san, there's a group of small-sized squid over there." (Name) pointed out.
Usopp turned with disbelief and said, "No way there could be squid this high above the dep- wait... WHAT?!" His eyes almost popped out at the sight of multiple squid swimming around nonchalantly near the ship. "S-squid?! I've seen some crazy things, but the New World always surprises me! Well..." Usopp confidently cast the string. "Let's fish for some squid!"
Luffy, Chopper, and (Name) stood next to him and watched the hook bob up and down with excitement. "Go Usopp!" Chopper cheered.
Usopp patiently sat until the rod started dragging forward and grabbed the rod tightly before pulling with all his might. "Come here, you!" He said and with a fast jerk of the arm, the hooked squid flew across the air, landing on the lawn.
"Amazing!" Luffy said and patted Usopp on the back. "Let's put it in the aquarium!"
Quickly, the four ran over to the entrance above the aquarium and dumped the squid in. The squid then started swimming around with a blank look that surprised Nami, who was below in the bar with Robin. "They actually caught a squid?"
"Seems so." Robin observed the squishy creature dart around in the tank. "It looks like a cute squid too. I almost feel bad for it when we eat it."
"Don't say that!" Nami shivered. Outside she heard Luffy and Chopper shouting:
"Ooh! He caught another one!" as more squid started appearing in the tank. Soon, the entire tank was filled with white creatures swimming around.
"That's an awful lot of squid...." Nami sweat-dropped. "Though I have heard that squid is good for the skin and hair."
"Oh! That's a lot of squid!" a voice suddenly said.
Nami and Robin turned to the voice and noticed Brook walking into the aquarium. "Brook! Don't scare me like that!" Nami yelled at him.
"My apologies, I was curious about what those four were catching so I decided to head here." Brook apologized. "I have also heard squid is good for bones, so I am looking forward to eating them as well."
Above, they heard footsteps running across the deck at a fast pace. Luffy was running towards the kitchen to tell Sanji about the squid. "Sanji, make grilled squid for dinner! We caught a bunch of squid so they're all in the tank!"
"Oh! Fresh squid sounds great! Maybe I'll make some squid sashimi and salad..... Calamari wouldn't be bad either..... But I must make sure the ladies get all the minerals properly....." Sanji began thinking of the dishes he could make.
"Don't forget the grilled squid!" Luffy reminded him.
Sanji nodded and paced around the kitchen.
Outside, Usopp was teaching (Name) how to fish while Chopper watched with delight. "When the line starts moving, you have to quickly pull the pole back with force. If you don't immediately pull it up, try and keep the force on the prey to weaken it. Of course, there are some exceptions like large sea monsters, where instead you have to knockout the prey or else it'll pull the ship along with it." Usopp made a mock pulling movement to show (Name). "You wanna try?"
"Sure!" (Name) attached the bait to the hook and cast it out to the water. Patiently watching the line for any signs of movement, the three sat in complete silence. At last, the line moved forward a bit and (Name) quickly pulled with all her might. The prey didn't completely give in, so (Name) kept pulling to weaken it.
Usopp's eyes widened and he realized what was at the other end of the line. "It's a sea monster! Gyahh!!! You should cut the line! It'll pull the ship!"
(Name) smiled at the challenge before her. "You are not getting away from me!" She materialized her (f/c) wings and soared towards the bubbling surface. The large head of the sea monster surfaced and looked around, not noticing the Sunny.
"Power blessing, I invoke thee." (Name) tapped a feather on her arm which disappeared with a burst of light. If I do not want to harm the prey, this is the best way. She thought as she readied her fist.
"Wait.....She's not actually planning to-" Usopp said with shock. "That gigantic monster?!"
As soon as (Name) reached the sea monster, the poor beast realized too late what was happening as it lost conscious from a quick punch from (Name). There was a large dent in the area of the blow and the monster's eyes glazed white.
"Whoa!!!! So strong!!!!"Chopper jumped with joy. "She took out that gigantic sea monster in a second!"
(Name) quickly pulled the rod she was holding in her other hand and pulled along her first catch. "Usopp-san! Is this how you catch a sea monster properly?"
Usopp sweat dropped and said, "As long as the monster's not moving, then its okay!"
Luffy walked out the kitchen and noticed the gigantic sea monster (Name) behind her. "Wow! (Name), did you catch that?!"
"Yes I did." (Name) answered with a bit of pride.
"We're going to have a banquet tonight! To (Name)'s first catch and the sea monster meat!" Luffy declared. "Plus all the squid from before."
(Name) tried to suppress a grin but ended up dancing around with the three about the banquet. Everyone is so nice here. I need to do my best as well!
-----------------------------------
(Name) woke up in the midst of everyone sleeping from the rowdy banquet before. The dining room was a mess, with plates everywhere and mugs on the floor. Quietly standing up to not wake anyone, (Name) grabbed some blankets and put them over everyone. Satisfied with her work, (Name) exited the dining room and looked out to the calming star-filled night sky. The moon was a crescent and the waves rocked the ship gently.
"Do you see a lot of stars?" A gruff voice suddenly said.
"Ah, Zoro-san, did I wake you?" (Name) saw the green-haired swordsman yawn and walk outside the kitchen.
"Nah, I wasn't sleeping that hard unlike the others." Zoro admitted. He also looked at the sky with his right eye. "No matter where we go on the sea, the sky is always the same, even if there are clouds." Then, as if remembering something, he turned to (Name). "Hey, Luffy told me you defeated that large sea monster and Chopper said you did it in one second. Is that true?"
"That is true, but the sea monster was weak." (Name) told him.
Zoro laughed, "Heh, even some of the others would take more time to defeat a sea monster of that size. You must be really strong."
"Of course." (Name) scoffed. "It's not like I have spent the last few centuries sitting around on that island doing nothing."
After a few moments of silence, he asked, "Can you be my sparring partner? I want to test my strength against yours."
(Name) was slightly shocked at the sudden request, but hearing the words 'sparring' let her make a quick decision. "Sure. I would not want to get rusty over these peaceful days and you seem to be very strong according to the others. Do not go easy on me, I am skilled in combat, and I will not hesitate to knock you out."
Zoro grinned and said, "I wouldn't want it any other way."
