Her Second Chance

Roland

"My name is Roland and..." he began to say as he tried to calm his crying.

"It's okay Roland. My name is Regina and you'll be safe with me until we find your parents." I told him as I sat him on the ground."Do you know your phone number or address so I can take you home." I asked him. He began crying again and just looked at me. I guess he didn't know and felt bad for not knowing or was just scared. "It's going to be okay Roland, do you wanna go get some juice?" He nodded and followed me to the kitchen. I opened the refrigerator door and asked, "Apple or blue Hawaiian punch?"

"Apple please" He said as he looked me dead into my eyes with sadness in them. I poured him a glass of apple juice. And I took him upstairs to Henry's room to get a few toys so he could have something to do.

"Roland you can play up here, while I try to find your family." I told him as he clung to my leg like all the little kids at Reign do on the first day of school. "You're safe here, I'll be right back."

"Noooooooo, don't leave me." he screamed as he dug his nails into my legs. I should have changed my clothes when I first got home.

"Ok I won't. I'm going to my room and change my clothes and get my computer. I'll just be in the room a couple of doors down." I told him as his grip began to loosen.

"Can I come with you" he asked as he stared into my eyes.

"Ok, follow me." I told him as we walked down the hall holding his hand. We walked into my room and I got what I needed. As we walked out my room Coco ran up the stairs and started barking. Coco must have scared Roland because he hid behind me while holding onto my legs. "It's ok, she isn't going to hurt you. She was just excited, and wanted to figure out who you are. Roland this is my dog Coco. If you want you may pet her, she won't bite." I reassured him. As Coco calmed down Roland loosened the grip on me and began walking towards her.

"Hi, I'm Roland" he said laughed as Coco began licking him. After a while Roland seemed to be happy and calm with Coco so I decided to take them down to the backyard while they played. This was my best chance to text Emma to come over asap.

'Need your help, nothing is wrong, just need u asap' I typed. In a matter of seconds she responded.

'K be over in a sec. Bringing bringing Henry with me' She responded

I put my phone on the counter and decided I needed to put the ice on my nose.

1 hr later

My door bell rang and I knew it was Emma and Henry. As I went to let them in Roland came running towards me. I picked him up and asked ,"Did you have fun with Coco?" He nodded and I carried him to the front door with me. I let them in and as they walked in both of their eyes were glued to the little boy I was holding on my hip. I sat Roland down while I closed the door behind them.

"This is Roland." I told them

""Hi Roland I'm Emma and this is Henry" Emma said smiling. But in her eyes she was saying, 'Who the hell are you?'

"Henry, can you him outside and you two can play or talk. Or what ever you want" I told them. As soon as the patio door closed behind them, Emma instantly said," Regina wh..." I didn't eve let her finish her sentence as I dragged her upstairs to my personal balcony outside of my room with a beautiful view.

"Regina start talking, who is this kid. Is he yours? Where is he from? When did he get here? Why didn't you tell me...?" Emma began rambling but I cut her off.

"Yea Emma he's mine. Me and Mark have a child and you've been around me every day and didn't remember the bump or asked" I said sarcastically "Of course he isn't mine. Don't u think you would have noticed. He showed up today in the back behind a bush crying. Long story short he is lost and doesn't know where his parents are." I told her

"Aww, you scared me a little. Ok so you want me to find his parents?" She asked

"Why else would I have called you over?"

"Ok no need to get snappy. Did he say what his parents names were or where he lives?"

"I tried asking but he broke down into tears, so I left that subject alone."

"Ok, I'll ask around to see if anyone has a missing child. Are you going to keep him until we find his parents..."

"Of course I will. You didn't even have to ask."

Emma and I continued to talk for about 30 mins or so about the adoption process for Ariel. Emma love s that little girl so much and isn't even her parent yet. Once we finish talking, Henry, Roland and Emma help me make my famous lasagna. Once it's finished we eat and watch Home. Before I knew it Roland, Henry and Emma were out cold on the couch and floor. I decided to pick up Roland and wake up Henry so he could get in bed. I got a comforter and spread it on Emma while I carried Roland upstairs with me. Once I climbed all those stairs and made it to my room I laid Roland in my bed while he slept peacefully. I took a shower, drank some water with my meds and climbed into bed trying not to wake Roland.
