CHAPTER TWO

(Nox's POV)

I flipped my long, curly, and wildly unruly black hair over my shoulder, the way I always did when I wanted people to shut up. The Slytherin dirt years behind me still wouldn't stop flapping their gums about downraring other students as they passed by, scuttling to their seats.

"Look at him- he obviously comes from no money." Snickered a burnett boy from my house. I growled and rolled my big black eyes. I had just about had enough of the idiots gossip when a group of mixed year Gryffindors passed by, a blue headed boy, a dark haired girl, and two other shaggy burnett boys.

They laughed, and the Slytherins behind me hissed, curling their lips in disgust. "Stupid Gryffindors." One muttered. The blue haired boy stopped dead in his tracks. He looked about third year, and I smirked at the stupid, arrogant bunch that would soon face consequences of picking on someone two years their senior.

"I would keep my mouth shut, if I were you." He warned. I couldn't help but listen in. The Slytherin boy stood up and crossed his arms. "Yeah? What are you gonna do, Gryffindor?" He challnged. The blue haired boy laughed, as if it were all a joke. "Careful, or you'll make your self faint." He teased, belittling the boy. I knew the boys face was beet red by now of both anger and embarrassment.

The boy chuckled again, walking away from the brawl. As his back turned, the first year draw his wand. I kept from my chair and pulled my own out, pointing it at the boy, who gave me a look of shock. "Stand down." I warned him, all serious. He scoffed in disbelief. "Your a Slytherin! Your supposed to defend me!"

I rolled my eyes. "I don't defend dunderheads." I retorted. The boy scowled and fell into his chair, defeated. I placed mine back in my tall black sock, satisfied. The blue haired boy and his friends applauded me, and I looked at them over my little, rounded nose.

"Why are you clapping? That was nothing. You look like a couple of fools." I snorted. I expected him to get angry, but the boy just chuckled at me retort instead. I smiled crookedly and placed my hands on my hips. "Can I help you?" I asked impatiently.

The blue haired boy reached or his hand, and I shook it without hesitation. "I'm Teddy Lupin." He introduced himself. He satires to his friends, and I shook each of their hands. The girl was named Delia Abbott, and the two boys were brothers, a year apart, Andrew the elder and Fenigain Dartmun the younger one. I sighed. "I am Nox Beelzebub Snape." I told them.

Teddy raised his eye brows at me. "Your... You must be the daughter of the potions professor." Be pointed out. I shrugged. "Obviously." I drawled. Teddy flashed me a handsome smile. "Well Nox, I hope to see you again He winked at me before turning, leaving to his seat with his posse. What an odd boy, I thought, as the professor peddled in.

The tall, curvy little blonde looked hazy and in a daze, as she clapped. "Attention, class." She called in a feathery ligt voice, smooth as silk and soft as a cloud. I knew her. Auntie Luna, Mommys friend.

"I am Professor Lovegood, your new teacher for Defense Against The Dark Arts." She announced, and we all gazed up at her with full attention. "Today we will be discussing how to use the Stupefy spell. Ease open your books and turn to page 56..."

I wasn't sure where to sit during lunch, so I took a seat at the end corner of the table, furthest away from the rest of the students. As I reached over to grab a warm honey biscuit, a hand picked one up and offered it to me. Begrudgingly, I snatched it up and thanked the parton. He sat down across from me, staring at me somewhat silently for a second, before filling his own plate.

"You know, I never did catch your name, strange boy." I told him after a minute of silent eating. I took a rather large bite of my biscuit, and the white haired boy from this morning looked up at me, stoney eyes curious. "Ambrose Beval Malfoy." He replied in a monotony, even tone.

Was an odd boy. I swallowed my food, and took a sip of my drink. "Why did you come over here, Ambrose Beval Malfoy?" I pressed, using his full name as a reminder to us both that I wasn't here to make friends.

Especially other Slytherins, by the way theyre coming to be. I though Slytherins would be nice and considerate like mommy, and strong-willed, tough, and witty like daddy. So far, they're all just either wierd or pompous dunderheads.

Ambrose raise one eyebrow smoothly upwards, a trick I ways wanted to learn. "To eat, of course. What else?" He said, yet with a tone that came off serious, desperate the irony of the reply. I rolled my eyes, pushing away some of my hair from my eyes. "Look, if your an arrogant blabbermouth like the others, you can leave now." I snapped at him. He ignored my tone.

"I'm not here to kiss up to the Potions professors little girl. I'm here to eat." He shot back. I pursed my lips, contemplating him. He seemed alright, I guess. Not too bad looking, either. Not too annoying. Kind of nice. Snapps back like a rubber band. I pushed my pursed lips up with my fingertips, eyeing Ambrose. He eyed me back, scanning me, eyes narrowed in thought. It took me a second to realize he was mocking me.

I laughed. "Alright. You can be my friend. Your pretty cool, Brose." I beamed at the emotionless boy, and he wrinkled his nose, curling his lip at me. "Don't call me 'Brose'." He ordered with bland dislike.

I rolled my eyes, leaning forward with my elbows on the table. "Would you rather I call you 'Amber'?" I tested, teasing him of the girls name. Hey, there isn't much you can do with his name. And 'Ambrose' is a mouthful. I'm glad I have a three letter name.

"You can call me 'Ambrose'." He replied. I crossed my arms. "Hmph. I will call you what I want." I shot back, shaking my shoulders with emphasis. I delicately and elegantly shook and flipped my curls, picking up my fork. Brose opened his mouth to say something, but his eyes dared above my head to something else.

"Wha-?" I began, when I felt a hand on my head, vigorously ruffling my hair. I squealed, looking up behind me, catching a glimpse of blue. I jumped from my chair. "Teddy!" I growled. The boy chuckled and swung his arm around my shoulders. I growled again. "Hey, Nox. You should come sit with me."

I squirmed out of his grasp, crossing my arms. "I have plans." I huffed, and Teddy looked over to Ambrose. He seemed a little genuinely let down. "Oh." He said plainly, thinking of something to say. He probably wasn't expecting me to reject his offer.

"Alright." He sighed, turning to go. I 'hmm'ed, and caught his arm. Teddy look at my over his shoulder. "Perhaps tomorrow." I shrugged halfheartedly. Teddy gave me a small crooked smile, and nodded once. "Sure."

I let go of his arm and sat back down, Brose giving me a curious look. I threw my hands up. "What? Why are you watching me." I demanded. Brose took a delicate sip from his goblet. "It seems as if he has a crush." He told me. I scoffed, retrieving my fork, stabbing into my turkey. "That's the most stupid thing I have ever heard." I said.

Brose curled his lip. "What's ridiculous is your seeming infatuation back." He muttered, taking a bite of his food. I snorted. What was his problem? I DID NOT like Teddy in that way, much less am I supposedly 'infatuated' with him. Not only is he a Gryffindor, but two hers my senior. And annoying. "I just felt sorry for him. I didn't want to embaress him in front of his peers." I informed him matter-of-factly.

Brose rolled his stoney eyes, but let it go. Some Slytherins just can't stand Gryffindors. I can't seem to stand any of these people so far.
