CHAPTER SIXTEEN
It was just like I had always remembered it to be. Wonderful and perfect and like it was the first time again. His kiss was defiantly the same, not that it was something easily forgotten. I pressed myself harder against him, in hopes that I never had to let go again. He slid one hand from my hip to the small of my back, pressing me closer to him in return, then sliding his palm up my back and resting in the middle of it.
I was too giddy to do much of anything. Feelings well up inside of me that I never thought I could feel again after his death. Maybe we could properly get married this time. But, all good things must come to an end, and I barely heard footsteps stumble in the hall near by as someone shimmied themselves in between Severus and I, yanking us apart rudely. I blinked a moment, gasping for air and looking about in a confused daze. Severus, on the other hand, looked like he was stuck between angry and baffled, a slight haze hanging around him. He was obviously piecing things together in his head.
Lilith looked at me, angry and in disbelief, a tinge of hurt on her features. "I thought you two were finished?!" She exclaimed, her voice pinched and high. I have her a flustered look. "I said nothing of the sort! And you have no right to do any of this! To want him, to touch him, to pull us apart...!"
She gave me an incredulous look. She glanced back at Severus, who seemed to be coming back piece by piece every second. She trotted to his side, laying a dainty hand on his shoulder. "Are you okay-?"
He threw her off of him, storming up to me once again, though this time, I knew that there was no chance of a kiss. "Stop doing that!" He snapped, angrier than ever. I stared at him, gaping, mouth hanging open. I was at a loss for words. "How... How is this all /my/ fault?!" I screeched. Just then some new faces entered the classroom: Alicia, Luna, Hermione, and Nox.
I looked from Severus, fuming before me, to Lilith, still awe-struck and incredulous, to the new arrivals, who all looked utterly clueless. Except Nox, who grinned wildly as if this had all tied into her little scheme. I was defiantly the most confused out of us all. I threw my hands in the air. "What the hell?!"
Luna ran over, setting a hand on my shaking shoulder calmly, giving me a worried look. Nox ran over as well, tugging on my shirt excitedly. "I got your friends! And now they can help you convince him!"
I shook my head painstakingly. "Nox... It isn't going to work." I told her sadly, my throat tightening. Nox's face fell as the other two girls approached me, Hermione giving Lilith dubious glances. Luna leaned in closer to me. "Come have a nice drink of Pumpkin juice, dear." She cooed. I knew it was a good idea to sit down, away from here, and spill my heart to my friends. But I didn't want to. I wanted to lunge at Severus and kiss him again, to not let go of him. I wanted to yank the manicured hair out of Lilith O' Bannon's pretty little screwed-up head. I wanted anything but reality.
I shook my head, closing my eyes and gently pushing away from Luna. Everything was going right. What if Lilith hadn't pushed us apart? Would we have kept kissing? More? Would he have remembered? He seemed so close... Maybe, if I could find him alone and somehow trigger this even again- minus the pulling apart -I could get him to realize that we're perfect for each other and we'll never have another like this. "I'm not thirsty." I told her.
Alicia sighed, and Hermione, after giving the teenage girl many odd looks (she seemed to be the only one to really notice the girl there), spoke up. "And just what are you doing here, young lady?" Hermione crossed her arms and gave Lilith a hard stare. Lilith broke her intent gaze on Severus and moved her hazel eyes to Hermione, fidgeting under her stare. "I... Uhh... I'm here because-"
"The girl came to return some homework that was late." I intervened. Lilith's eyes widened a fraction and darted to me, stuck between disbelief and thanks. I didn't let my eyes linger on her, though I could see her from my peripheral. "She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, is all." I added.
