Soda.

Steve and i hung out and joked alot until friday hit, he avoided me in the halls and barely replied when i spoke to him in class. The only real thing he said to me today was "ill be at my car at 5. Don't be late."

So here i was searching through my casual clothes, finding something decent to wear. I settled on my yellow plaid, a fresh pair of jeans, and sneakers. It was a little hot out to be wearing my jean jacket.

I fixed my hair up a bit before my dorm mate started bugging me. "Whos the lucky lady?" And "what do you mean theres no lady?"

I ignored him until he blocked the door. "You're going to hang with Steve again aren't you? Im telling you, somethings up with him. Hes gotta be gay. He doesn't even flirt with the girls on the joint field trips." I looked up at him and held my ground. "Move Kyle. Or ill make you."

Apparently it was enough to make him move. This time.

I was 15 minutes late meeting Steve. I was surprised he even waited for me. He was never patient. He looked good. He had chosen a maroon tshirt to go under his jean vest and fresh jeans.

He got my door for me then hopped in. "You know I hate waiting. So just consider how much this means to me, okay?"
He pushed play on the cd player and Pink Floyd pumped out.

Steve was always quiet while he drove. I didn't mind because I loved to watch him. He kept looking at me this time though. Even when he passed me a cigarette and lit his own. When he was smoking, he always liked to look out the window real tuff like. But this time, it was like he and i were the only two people on the planet.

Maybe now, i had a chance with him.

He took me to a nice diner a few kilometers away from the school. We each just got a burger and a coke. Again, we didn't say much. Who would when you're busy stuffing your face anyways.

Steve paid for everything, and when we went back to his car we smoked again. "I had a lot of fun tonight. Thanks Steve." The sun was setting now, and i figured we'd be heading back to make curfew. "Jeez Soda, in all this time you've known me, have i ever been outta tricks?" I gave him a funny look. "We still got the main event to go to." And with that he pulled out and drove.
