Kaysly's POV

My mother heard from Mrs. and Mr. Williams that Zachary's funeral will be held next week. They were all meeting up today to see how Mr. and Mrs. Williams are holding up. As soon as I got out of the shower, I proceeded to put on my black blouse with my blue skinny jeans, which would match my blue and black flats. Then, I brushed my hair back into a sleek pony tail. I look into the mirror knowing that I was not looking perfect but good enough.

I started to walk down the stairs to where my parents were waiting for me with my little brother sleeping in my mother’s arms. We all pretty much looked modern, not like a family going out to have fun, but like a family visiting another. To kill the silence in the car I pulled out my iPod, when my father spoke up.

"So were you close to Zachary?" My mind went blank for a moment and back to the very words he just said.

"Ah, sort of ... we didn't talk a lot." I said. He just nodded at this not asking anymore questions. When we turned into the street where they lived, we were able to see flowers, balloons, candles, and cards written out to Zachary planted on the spot of the car crash. As we continue to pass by I felt a flashback of the car crash as if I were in Zachary's position. The image gave be goose bumps.... and then the image was gone.

My dad parked a few houses down because Mrs. and Mr. Williams driveway was filled with cars of those who came before us. I waited for my mother as she got my brother and her things with my father by her side, helping her.

I watched as a couple gingerly walking up the path to the house. The man’s arms were wrapped around the lady's waist and she reached her finger out to ring the doorbell. The door opened not too fast and not too slow, and behind it stood Mrs. Williams. Her pale face shows a hint of gratitude at the couple in front of her. Behind her, I can see people walking around the house and others talking to one another. I felt a little easy now that I would not have to worry about people staring me down as I walked in. Now that we were walking up the same path, my father rung the door bell and Mrs. Williams answered again.

"Oh hello Karen, Jack, and ... Kaysly. I am so glad that you could come." She said, trying to lift up the mood, but failing. Now that we were much close up to her, I could see the gray bags under her eyes, and even though she smiled thoughtfully her light brown eyes did not show it.

"We are happy to be here." My mother said looking into her eyes and showing a warm smile, she reached her hand out to Mrs. Williams and they shook hands. As Mrs. Williams gave way to my parents into the house, she gasped at the sight of my brother peacefully sleeping in my mother’s arms.

“And who is this little fella?" She said, with again the same sad smile upon her face. I walked further into the house leaving my parents and Mrs. Williams conversing. I walked around the house trying not to seem like I was looking for someone. I saw a few of Zachary friends from school, and when they saw me come into the room, they surprisingly waved. I waved back in response.

I kept moving on up until I finally reached the only two rooms left, which are the living room and the kitchen across. I only found myself a few of Zachary teachers and other adults and students that I did not speak to or knew.

Mrs. Williams kindly introduced me to the same couple I saw walking in before us. It was Zachary's sister, Rachel. Beside her, was her husband Luke. I could see the similarities that she had with Zachary. The same big and bright light brown eyes, the widow’s peak, and the same rounded chin. The difference is that she had a heart shape face, and Zachary's was more a round, oval shape. Her husband, Luke, was very tall with broad shoulders; his eyes and hair were dark making him look tough. They ask me a few questions about myself and how I knew Zachary; I was honest with them. I just told them that I knew Zachary by Caden.

I walk into the kitchen as they started another conversation, helping myself to refreshments. I couldn't put my finger on why all of a sudden under these unfamiliar faces I felt lost and out of place. I did not quit know what was I doing here when I could not even consider me and Zachary as friends. Under all of these unfamiliar faces the one I wanted to see most was Caden's.
