Chapter 20: My Heart and My Soul
"I love thee with a love that shall not die, till the sun grows cold and the stars grow old."
~William Shakespeare

I sat on Wes's bed as Grace and Mae held up different white dresses.
Wes and I were saying the Vows that evening and I hadn't found a dress yet and I was feeling immensely unprepared.
"Walk me through the ceremony again," I said and flopped onto the bed, staring at the ceiling.
Grace handed the dresses off to Mae and sat down next to me.
"We'll all drive out to the Hill of Tara when both the sun and moon are in the sky. This is where coronations as well as Vow ceremonies are held. The Hill of Tara is sacred to the Time Travellers. For centuries it has been the place where every Time Traveller was bound to its other half. Kyle will be crowned there." Grace paused, making sure I was following. I nodded for her to continue; I knew this much.
"Once there, you and Wes will meet the Elder in the center room, it will only be you three. The Elder will ask of your love for each other then once that is confirmed he will began the Handfasting, which is the traditional Celtic binding ceremony. The Elder will bind your hands together with the Handfasting cord. You will then say the Vows. The final step of your bonding will be completed and you and Wes will be fully bonded."
I took a moment, thinking over her words, It was easy enough and since I knew what to expect all nerves I had before were replaced by excitement.
"Okay, I got this. Let's look at those dresses now," I said with a broad smile.
Mae squealed and rushed back to the rack of gorgeous white dresses. Wes was nervous about another attack so he had a shop from town ship in racks of dresses so we wouldn't have to risk exposure in town. Grace hauled me off the bed and we began to flick through the gorgeous garments. I picked out a few, all ranging from princess style with poofy skirts, to sleek, sheath dresses that hugged the body. Grace and Mae shoved me into a long tulle dress. It had spaghetti straps and a tight bodice, leading to a full skirt of tulle. I turned to look in the full-length mirror and scrunched up my nose at my reflection. The front of the bodice dipped low and showed a large amount of cleavage.
"Um, no," I laughed and hurriedly shed the gown.
Grace held up another one but this time it was a skirt of chiffon and a bodice of lace. Getting it on I was surprised that I liked it so much. The chiffon was light and airy, floating around my legs.
"I like this one but all of these dresses feel like wedding dresses, I think I want something simpler," I said, slipping out of that gown too.
"How about this one?" Mae held up a simple sheath dress. The bodice was lace and led down to a gauzy skirt. The sleeves capped my shoulders but otherwise left my arms bare. Instead of a flawless white it was closer to a soft cream. It was gorgeous. Grace help me into the dress and zipped up the back which dipped in a low V. Mae nodded, a soft smile playing her features. I turned to look in the mirror and gasped when I did. The dress was beautiful, hugging my body but still floating around me.
"I love it," I whispered, turning to look at the back.
"You look just like your mother." I hadn't heard Bridget come into the room and I turned to see a reminiscent smile on her aged face, eyes growing misty.
