The sun peeked through my blinds and woke me up at about noon.

“Shit,” I whispered to myself. I invited the guys over today. I sat up and shut my blinds, making my room the slightest bit darker. I needed to get ready for the boys to come over. Since it was noon, I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to shower. But that was okay, I had showered last night. I grabbed a pair of jeans and slipped them on and changed into an old Nirvana tank top. I didn’t care about my makeup that much. I just put mascara on and a slight touch of eyeliner. Not near as much as I normally wear, I noted. I didn’t bother to put on any shoes. I was making my bed as I heard my dad call for me.

“Those boys are here!” I could hear the smirk in his voice. I hurried to the door where I found Ray, Mikey, and Frank standing inside already. Where the fuck is Gerard? I thought to myself.

“Gerard is on his way over. He just woke up. He’s getting dressed,” Ray told me as if he read my mind.

“Oh, that’s okay. Wanna play video games?” I asked them, getting the reaction I thought I would.

“Hell yes!” Frank ran over to the couch. I smiled. I walked over to the TV, motioning for Ray and Mikey to join me. I grabbed a handful of games, and asked which one was preferred. All three of them reached for Black Ops. They wanted to play Zombies. We took turns, two players. It was funny to watch the boys as they yelled and shouted profanities when they were killed. I got up to get some food, realizing that I had not yet eaten. Gerard knocked on the door as I got up. He got here half an hour after the others. I made my way to the door, pausing in front of the TV to aggravate Ray and Mikey, who were playing this time.

I opened the door to see a greasy, messy haired Gerard, looking as tired as ever.

“Hey, uh, sorry I’m late. I was tired,” He looked down at his feet as he spoke.

“Oh, it’s fine. We’re just playing video games.” He nodded and walked in. “Can I get you something? Coffee perhaps?” I smiled as his head shot up to look at me. He nodded and followed me into the kitchen. I put some coffee on, and we sat on the barstools, watching the other boys play video games in the other room. It was Gerard who finally broke the silence.

“Hey. Thank you for the other night. I really needed that.”

“No, it’s okay. No need to thank me. I’m always here.” I smiled at him. He smiled back, not necessarily looking at me. The coffee maker beeped and I hopped up to get it. I brought out the sugar and creamer, and he told me it’s okay and that he would rather drink it black. I nodded and put them away, feeling slightly embarrassed. I returned to the barstool, and watched the boys. Gerard took his seat next to me.

“You can go play with them if you’d like.” I told him. He shook his head.

“I don’t like video games as much as they do.” He never kept eye contact with me. He looked at his coffee before taking the last sip. “Can I get some more of this?” I nodded and he got up. I still hadn’t gotten myself any food. I got up and grabbed some bread for a sandwich. We had a couple pieces of turkey that I put on it and ate it plain. I saw Gerard glance at me multiple times as I ate. His eyes caught mine once before returning them to his coffee mug. We eventually made our way back into the living room, where I was squeezed into a chair with Frank and Gerard on the couch with the other two. It was an awkward fit, especially with Frank continuously squirming. But I didn’t mind. These were my new friends, and I was happy.
