(Jason's POV)
"Mr. Walker I'm sorry but I need to go." I said to my teacher.
He looked surprised.
"Why?" He asked
"Family Issue sir."
"okay. Go on " he agreed.
I was 18 so they couldn't keep me here.
I grabbed my stuff and walked out. I walked passed the front office and I could hear the principle yelling.
'Probably because of Maria.' I thought
I walked outside and her car was gone.
"sh*t!" I yelled.
I took off running toward my apartment. We lived only 2 minutes by car. But that's about 10 minutes walking.
I managed to get there in five minutes. Running the whole way.
I trugged up the stairs and struggled with the keys to my front door.
Right when I walked in I noticed a note on my counter.
I read it and my heart sank.
"MARIA! Where are you! No!" I yelled.
I ran back to my room and she was laying on the floor.
"Oh my God! I'm too late!" I leaned over her body.
She still felt warm. I put my ear to her chest and I heard a heart beat. I picked her up bridal style and ran down to her car. I set her in the backseat and hauled ass to the hospital.
I ran in hastily.
"Help! Help! She's dying!" I yelled.
2 nurses ran to me. And took her. Another nurse asked what she did.
"I think she took too many pills. There was an empty pill bottle in her hand when I found her." I said very shaky.
"Do you know what kind sir?" She asked calmly.
"Uh. Um they-they were. Damn it! They were super strength sleeping pills." I yelled.
"Thank you sir." She said as she wrote on her clipboard.
I nodded and took a seat in the waiting room. The TV was on but I couldn't sit still long enough to watch it. I would sit for five minutes then I would stand and pace. Then sit, then pace. I was biting my fingernails down. I was shaking pretty badly too. I was so worried about her. I couldn't lose her. I had already lost my parents and I don't think I could go through that again.
(Maria's POV)
I held Jackie in my hands as my mom and I started to talk.
"Am I dead?" I asked.
She shook her head.
"But why!? You see that I want to die! Why can't you let me?" I argued.
"It's not up to me Maria! It's up to God! Even if it were up to me I wouldn't let you! You are so young. You have so much to live for. It's not your time." She lectured.
"But..."
"Maria no! It's final. Your day will come when you're old. When you've lived a long life and watched your children and grandchildren grow up."
"But that didn't happen for you!" I yelled
She looked hurt.
"Mom I'm sorry." I apologized.
