Why did I say wait? He thought.
Nora patiently stood at the door, waiting for him to speak. A blush was creeping up his cheeks as he began, "Um...uh," Alex was starting to shake with nervousness – he didn't know how to continue, "I, um, really...uh...enjoyed the time with you." He imaginatively breathed a sigh of relief. Oh god, that was so nerve-racking, he thought.
She smothered a chuckle, he was just too cute, "Me too Alex, I hope we can do this again...sometime." She sent him a glowing smile. She really wanted to do it again – it was great enjoyment for her.
"Y-yes." He stuttered. She loved how everything she did affected him so adorably. "Um, do you want me to walk you home?" he asked. Nora shook her head.
"No, it's fine." She peered into his eyes for one last time before saying her departing words, "I guess I'll see you sometime. Hopefully soon. Goodnight Alex." She turned her heel and exited the door.
The night's cold air made her hug her coat tighter. The winter season was still fresh in the city, bringing bone chilly winds at night. She walked home while reminiscing her dinner with Alex. She loved every moment of it, and of course, she was saddened when it was time to leave.
It was only 10:30pm when Nora arrived at her apartment building. She ascended the stairs and unlocked her front door. Kicking off her shoes and half-heartedly place them in a neat manner in her shoe cupboard. She took off her thick black coat and hung it on her coat hanger.
It was time to shower.
Nora turned off her bedside lamp after reading the last few pages of her book – the events of the night still lingered in freshly in her mind, making her smile. She closed her tired eyes and let sleep wash over her.
The next morning, she woke up afresh. She did her usual morning routine once she got out of her bed and dove straight into her work – she was determined to finish it today.
Half an hour into her task, her phone buzzed, making the screen light up – It was a text message from Alex,
Good Morning Nora, I hope you're having a nice morning so far. I just wanted to say that I really liked yesterday's events again. Bye.
Alex.
Nora smiled. She thought the text was just so cute and thoughtful. She sent him a text of her own,
Good morning to you too Alex. My morning has been great so far. I hope yours is the same. I really enjoyed yesterday's dinner too. Why don't we have another one? In two weeks on Friday? But this time let me cook for you. I really want to.
Nora.
A few moments later, Alex texted back, saying yes. Nora was thrilled, but gradually, she was overcome with nervousness and fear – She had no idea what to make for Alex. She really wanted to make something as delicious as his meals, but she didn't know if she was capable of doing such thing.
I'll find a recipe tomorrow, she thought. She continued with her work until the early afternoon.
It was 1pm when Nora's phone rang. It wasn't Alex this time. It was her younger sister by five years.
"Hello?"
"Hi Nora!"
"Hi Heather." Nora was confused about why Heather was calling – she didn't ask for anything from her.
"How are you big sis?" She beamed through the phone. Heather was always more cheerful than Nora, "Anyways, I was thinking of having lunch together today. I'm in town." Nora furrowed her brows, when did she come? She thought.
"I'll meet you at Café Bliss at 1:30pm," she said before hanging up, "I'll see you soon big sis." Café Bliss was the name of the café Nora frequented and was the place where Alex worked. Her heart skipped a beat as she thought about him – she was delighted that she was going to see him again.
I wonder what Heather's going to talk about, she thought.
