Nora waited at the benches near the pond – the place where Alex said he'd be waiting for her at. The area was quiet and only a few people were present.
She fidgeted with her hands and bit her lip. She was a mixture of anticipation, nervousness and fear. She was anxious about what Alex wanted to say.
Rubbing her hands on her jeans to keep warm, her mind wandered over to yesterday night. She barely had any sleep – it was another sleepless night – and her eyes were puffy due to the crying. In addition with that, she also had dark bags under them. Nora looked like a sleep-deprived zombie.
Nora's eye scanned her environment for Alex – it was just a few minutes before the agreed meeting time.
There he is! She thought when her eyes landed on a familiar looking figure. He was walking towards her, just a few metres away. He held a bouquet of flowers in one hand. She knitted her brows together in confusion – why did he have flowers?
As he strode up to her, Nora stood up from the bench. "H-Hi." Her voice was weak and vulnerable – she felt like she could burst into tears any moment now. A tight knot was forming in her stomach.
Alex rubbed the back of his neck, "Hi." His voice almost mimicked hers. They were both feeling uncomfortable and nervous.
"Um, so what do you want to talk about?" She knew what he wanted to talk about – he wanted to talk about the kiss two days ago, but she still wanted to ask to lessen the tense and awkward atmosphere surrounding them.
"Um, I," He hesitated. Nora was preparing for the worst and she could feel it the knot getting tighter and tighter. "I...actually liked it, the kiss. A lot."
What...he did?
A stupefied expression painted her face. Her brows were raised and her mouth gaped open. She was speechless.
"I was shocked at first, but I've been watching you for a long time now and I-I kind of...you know...fell in love with you." He professed with a dark blush on his cheeks. "I-I want you to accept these," He handed her the flowers, they were different from the ones he gave her before – they were red roses, a dozen of them.
She took them carefully in her shaky hands. She didn't know what to think and was feeling a long list of emotions from his burst of a confession.
"I-I..." Alex anticipated her answer. His hazel eyes sparkled in curiosity.
It was now or never, she thought. The words were just on the tip of her tongue and she just had to open her mouth to say it.
"I...I love you too." She said, sending him a radiating smile before pouncing on him for a hug. She wrapped her slim arms around his neck tightly, almost like she was afraid that he was going to disappear. "I love you Alex," she whispered in his ears. Her eyes were glossed with delightful tears.
Alex stumbled back a little due to the unexpected attack, but he wrapped his arms around her waist and smiled in the crook of her neck. He finally did it – he finally made her his.
They broke the hug after a few moments, but their arms were still around each other.
"I love you Nora Welling."
"I love you Alexander Penson."
They both chorused their love for each other, before embracing in a passionate kiss – they were finally together.
"Um, would you like to come over? I made a new cake and...I want you to be my taste tester."
Nora beamed a smiled – she loved to as it meant she would be the first one to taste his beautiful creations, "I'd love to Alex." His cheeks tinged a pink – them being together was basically a dream come true for him.
"Would like a coffee with that?"
"Yes, please!" She embraced him in another kiss – she had finally found someone that she couldn't get enough of.
