(9) My Best Mate

~~Harry's POV~~

She walks out leaving me standing there. I should have told her, I know I should have but I didn't think the time was right. The time would have never been right, I'm such an idiot! What do I do now, do I go after her, or let her cool down. I don't know so I call Louis, but he doesn't answer. Who do I call? No one I'll wait for Louis to call me back. How could I be so stupid? The day I was eating, she just showed up. We have been friends forever, best friends. We had a relationship she was my first and I was hers. After we broke up we remained friends, yeah we'd shag whenever we ran into each other but it never meant anything to me a least. We talked that day for at least two hours, Maddie was home ignoring everyone and I really just needed to talk to someone.

When we were saying goodbye she just kissed me and I kissed her back at first. Then I realized what was happening I pushed her way. I felt so guilty afterwards, I couldn't believe that I had actually kissed her back. It was nothing like kissing Maddie, this kiss was rough and lacked any passion. Ever since I have been ignoring her. She calls me and text all the time, and I swear it's like she knows when I'm out alone. Every time I am she finds me and throws herself at me. I have to say if Maddie and I weren't together I would totally shag her right where she stood. But I love Maddie and I don't find that arousing anymore. I don't know how long I sit here just thinking about all this bullshit but it's been awhile and Louis has never called me back.

I need to check on Maddie so I walk out looking for her. I check downstairs and she is no where to be seen. I call for Styles and hear his tiny bark coming from upstairs. I run up and open the door where it's coming from and when I do I see Maddie laying on the guest bed. Louis sits in the chair beside the bed just looking at me and I don't know how he is here and me not know it. I walk over and as he watches me, Maddie sleeping as I see her toss. I reach down and pull the covers over her body, how do I keep hurting her so much. Louis stands pulling me out of the room by my arm. I know he's angry just by the look on his face. We go downstairs and when we walk out the back door the cold air causes me to shiver. "What the fuck mate?" Louis turns yelling at me.

"Lou it's not what you think." I put my hands up in front of me.

"Really mate? Because it sounds like you're up to your old ways to me." Wow I am hurt that he said that. "How could you do it Haz? How could you do that to Little Grey?"

"What the fuck do you think I did mate?" I move forward as he does.

"She told me you kissed Emma. No you may not have fucked her but that's just as bad." He glares at me and I don't think I have ever seen him this mad especially at me. "Little Grey is pregnant Haz, but let me tell you something..." He stares at me. "If she isn't what you want end it now, don't keep hurting her." I shove him, he stumbles backwards then comes back standing right in front of me. I get it now I see it all over his face.

"You love her don't you!" I scream at him as Styles barks at the door. He looks at me anger all over his face.

"Of course I love her mate."

"No not like that..... You're in love with her I can see it." I move to where our chest touch. "Stay away from her do you hear me." I growl.

"Not going to happen, she wants me here, she called me!" He growls right back and I hit him. He stumbles backwards, he shakes his head then charges at me hitting me right back. I throw a punch landing it, as he does the same.

~~Maddie's POV~~

I wake up and Louis is gone and I hear Styles barking. I groan getting up, I walk to where Styles stands barking at the back door. But when I get to it I freeze, Harry and Louis are fighting and they throw punch after punch. I open the door running out. "Stop!" I scream but they don't pay me any mind as Harry hits Louis and I hear a loud thud.  Louis regains his balance and tackles Harry to the ground hitting him over and over. What the fuck is going on? They roll on the pavement and I scream out trying to get them to stop. Harry straddles Louis hitting him and they are hard punches. I go over and grab him pulling him back and he shoves me and I fall back breaking the patio banister falling to the ground. I'm dazed as I roll over on my side. Fuck he just fucking shoved me and now here I lay grabbing my knee that is fucking throbbing and not just a little. "Maddie!" Louis cries out. I look up and he shoves Harry running over to me.

"Don't fucking touch her." Harry yells but Louis pulls me up. I try to stand but I cant when I put weight on my knee it sends shooting pains threw my whole body.

"Fuck you Haz you shoved her she's fucking pregnant!" He screams back and Harry comes over shoving him away then grabs me holding me up. What the fuck is going on? I push away from Harry and scream out in pain as I feel the puke make it's way up my throat.

"You need to leave now!" Harry spits at Louis and I have never heard him like this. How can he talk to Louis this way. He looks over at me. "Maddie tell him to leave." I just look at him is he serious?

"No Harry." I say and Harry loses it.

"Louis fucking leave or I make you!" I stand up pushing the pain away as I do. Louis looks over at me and I cant do it I fall right back in the chair. I don't feel good at all. My stomach begins to hurt but this is different then I have ever felt. I put my hand to my hip and it's wet I bring my hand up and I swear I'm going to faint. I cry out as blood drips from my hand causing Louis and Harry to forget all their anger as they move closer. All I can think is something is wrong with my baby, all because Harry lost his fucking temper. "Maddie what's the matter?" His eyes grow wide as he sees the blood. "Oh my god baby." He cries out grabbing me and I push him away, I don't want him to touch me he did this. "Baby please let me help you."

"You did this!" I scream and he falls backward sitting on his knees. "Louis please take me to the hospital." I look at Harry who sits there crying. Louis moves to me and I raise my shirt looking at myself. I take a deep breath looking at the gash on my hip. It's ok Maddie just breath. Harry sees me and groans moving over to me lifting me and I don't fight him. We make our way to the car as Louis follows but goes to his. I don't say a word as we drive, Harry's hands shake as he tightens his grip on the wheel. I move just a bit and the pain from my knee overwhelms me causing me to cry out.

"We're almost there love." He whimpers and I rest my head on the window just wondering when this life is ever going to give me a break.

~~Harry's POV~~

I swear to god I hate this place, I cant believe I shoved her. I wasn't thinking and I didn't even realize what was happening and Louis. God I knew he loved her but I didn't know it was like that. He's my best mate and he loves my girl. I run my hands over my face as I pace back and forth. I'm only out here because Maddie refused me to stay with her taking fucking Louis back. She doesn't want me to call Josh she said she would kill me if I did. I wish they would tell me what's going on, god please let the baby be ok! I walk to the nurses desk and she smiles up at me.

"Can you tell me what's going on with Madison Grey?" She looks at me and nods typing something in on her tablet.

"It looks like she is headed up to the OR right now." She states and I freak out.

"OR for what?" I say breathlessly

"I'm not sure, but I'm sure the doctor will let you know soon." Louis walks out of the elevator and I run up to him but I keep my distance.

"Louis tell me what's going on!" I demand and he looks at me.

"Well mate she is going to surgery right now, they have to reset her knee. The screw they put in the first time snapped and that's why she is in pain." I groan I cant believe this, this is all my fault. "The cut on her hip she had to have stitches and the baby is fine." He doesn't wait for me to say anything he just walks away. I know what people are thinking, hell look at our faces all swollen and bloody. We both take a seat in the waiting room but we never speak or even look at each other. How did we get here? I look over at him and he's just staring at the wall, and I have to ask.

"How long?" He looks over at me his face blank. "Tell me Lou." I lean forward with my elbows to my knees.

"It doesn't matter Haz." He looks at the ground his eyes never leaving it.

"It does to me. How long?"

"Since the first day mate." That's all he says as he stands and walks out of the room. His words hit me hard and I now know why he doesn't date. He's in love and has been in love with Maddie since day one like me. I just don't know what to do. I lost my best mate and the girl I love all in one day.
