I quickly typed a goodbye message to Kyle and put the laptop to one side, I sprinted up the stairs to dig my phone and iPod out of my blazer pocket, once I had found them, I quickly opened my phone and searched through the contacts.
I found Grace's and rang it, it rang out and went to answer phone, good! Obviously I wasn't expecting an answer but I wanted to know that the phone itself was still on and hadn't been switched off or broken because then I could find it.
And with it the number of her murderer.
Without warning my iPod beeped and turned itself off, I growled at it and put it into its docking station, I sat at my desk and peered out the window into the darkening sky.
As soon as my iPod was charged it would be dark, and even I wasn't stupid enough to go out into the night to find a phone.
I ignored my grumbling stomach and climbed into bed.
--------------
Beep beep beep...
I rolled over and buried my head in the pillow.
Beep beep beep...
I growled and pulled the covers over my head.
Beep beep beep...
What was that noise? "Grace?" I called out, forgetting for a second that she wasn't here.
I sat upright and looked at my alarm clock.
Beep beep, before it could make its full cycle, I slammed my hand down on the 'off' button and fell back into bed, it was Saturday after all!
After a few moments of wriggling around uncomfortably, I knew that I couldn't stay in bed.
I through the covers off of me and sat at my desk, I pulled my iPod out of its position on the stand and slid it open, I scrolled across my pages for my 'find your iPhone' app.
The joys and wonders of modern technology!
I selected Grace's iPhone and the screen showed a loading icon beneath it, it said 'searching devices' I sighed, well Rome wasn't built in a day.
I take my IPod with me downstairs and begin to pour a glass of milk, Jayne had done some shopping for me, so that I wouldn't starve myself.
I took a little sip and my iPod flashed, inferring that it had found the phone, it showed a map, so I zoomed in, the signal was coming from a forest.
I ran upstairs to get changed and left my milk on the side, I threw on some jeans and a long sleeve top, complete with the jumper that I slept in last night.
Now the only problem, how was I going to get there, I definitely couldn't walk, it was miles away!
I rang Cameron, he had been borrowing the mini for driving lessons, so that he could run errands for me, I thought this would count.
--------------
"I'm not sure about this Alex!" Cam warned me for the 600th time today, he had been like this ever since I said that it was in a forest "I know, but wouldn't it be good for the police to have her phone!" I argued, "ok, yes but what if it's a trap?" I scoffed, "it's not scooby doo!" he shot me a sour look, "you know that I might not get my drivers license if they find out about this!"
"I know I'm sorry, but I had to do this!" I say, I fiddled with my thumbs, he held onto my hand and said, "I know" quietly, "how are you after yesterday?" I asked, aiming to change the subject, it worked, "yeah I'm fine, you have a bit of an obsessive ex" he laughed, I did to.
