Casey
Wasn't high school supposed to be the most exciting years of a teenagers life? But here I was looking across the parking lot at my new school.
I was a senior and I was at a new school.
I left all my old friends behind. Well it wasn't like they gave much thought about me. They probably rejoiced when I finally left. They only associated with me because of the connections I had in the city. But I am no longer in the city. Instead of tall buildings, I see miles and miles of corn fields.
I sighed and looked around. There were people gathering around certain cars in the parking lot. They were all starring directly at me. I turned my attention back to the building in front of me and put on foot in front of the other.
It didn't take long before I found the front office.
I cleared my throat when the secretary didn't notice me come in.
She looked up and smiled, "How can I help you, dear?"
"Umm," I looked around the office, "I'm Casey Foster. It's my first day here."
The lady's face brightened instantly, "Yes, of course. I have your schedule right here. There is a map on the back. This is a big place and it's easy to get lost. It looks like your locker is on the second floor in the science department. That's on the west wing."
I looked to the back of the map and nodded. It seemed easy enough.
"Thank you," I told the lady with a small smile.
"It's not a problem, dear. And if you have any problems today of this week don't hesitate to come in, okay?"
I just nodded and turned and faced the exit.
I quickly found my locker and stuffed my notebooks at the top. I looked down at my schedule. I had A.P. Calculus. I groaned. I felt like shutting the locker door on my head. That just about sums up the relationship I have with math. It was a love hate relationship. Calculus loved to torture me and I hated every minute of it.
I sighed and looked at the map. It was downstairs by the cafeteria.
I kept my head down and quickly made my way to the stairs. The warning bell went off which only made kids quicken their steps to get to class on time. It wasn't long till someone managed to knock me over.
And it was just my luck that he knocked me over at the top of the stairs. Before I managed to fall flat on my face a hand reached out for my waste and picked me completely up off the stairs.
I gasped and closed my eyes.
"Are you alright?" The mysterious man asked.
I finally opened my eyes. Right in front of me stood a model worthy male. His light blue eyes were looking down at me with concern. His blond hair was chopped military style.
I cleared my throat and stepped back, "Thank you." I stepped around him and kept on walking to class. There was no way I was about to be late to my first class.
I wasn't a nerd. But I wasn't dumb. I knew enough to be put in the advanced classes and not try. But no one would be seeing me on a Friday night working on the latest math problem.
Instead I spent my weekends just smoking a drinking. I didn't even care if it would be by myself. The weekends were for me to misbehave. While I was a straight A student during the week, I was a rebel on the weekends.
I walked into the into the math class and quickly found an empty seat in the middle of the room. I didn't bother looking around. I knew they were all staring at me. I was the new girl. They all knew that. I'm sure most of these people have gone to school together since they were in kindergarten. And here I was joining them for their last year. Heck, I was probably ruining it for them. But I'm sure they won't notice me in about two weeks tops. Well, that's what I'm hoping for.
