Chapter 10 (unedited)

“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered. His hand formed around my face.

I sighed and closed my eyes. The smell of him filled my nostrils. I could smell the farm on him but I also smelled the sweet sugar like smell that is only him.

“What are you doing?” I asked. My voice was nothing but a whisper.

Daniel smiled show casing his pearly white teeth, “This is how it should be. Why do you keep fighting it?”

            “Fighting what?”

            “Us,” he whispered.

Why were we whispering? I looked around to see that we were in my backyard. I saw the birdfeeder and the tree stuck in the middle of yard. The grass was wet from the fog rolling in around us.

“What do you mean?” I looked into his eyes. They were more gray than usual. My knees went weak.

“Stop holding back your feelings,” he wiped away a strand of hair that fell from its place.

I shook my head, “Why? This would never end up well. You and I both know that.”

“No I don’t know that,” his voice raised. He stopped and looked around like someone was after him.

“Is there someone else here?” I asked nervously.

Daniel looked around again, “Just promise me you’ll give me a chance.”

“You’re the only one that has me,” I told him the truth.

“I’m so glad,” he whispered. His head lowered toward mine. I held my breath and prepared myself for his touch. I wanted it.

There was movement along the hedge of the woods that made Daniel jump and pull me behind him.

Three wolves stepped out, all of them black. I lost all thought. Their teeth flared and they were stained red from blood. I gasped from the shock.

I looked at Daniel. He acted as a barrier between the wolves and I. Daniel crutched down as if ready to fight but instead he shifted before me. Instead of Daniel who was standing in front of me moments before, I saw the blonde wolf, Blondie.

I gasped and took a few steps back. The wolf looked at me and then back to the three black wolves. Blondie was going to protect me.

I continued to back up until the back of my legs hit the porch steps. I fell back onto the wood.

I watched in horror as the three wolves attack the wolf. I screamed when they surrounded him.

I sat up and gasped for air. I looked around and took in my room. I didn’t remember walking up last night.

I sniffed the air, something smelled familiar scent of the sweetness. It was Daniel’s smell. I sighed and looked down.

My eyes narrowed as I took in the sweatshirt I was wearing. It was the baseball sweatshirt that Daniel had on last night. I know he didn’t give it to me.
