Chapter Eight: The plan

I walked out dressed in a blood red ball gown made of silk and designed with roses. It was beautiful. I had curled my hair and placed my red and black mask with roses on the side. I smiled at my reflection. 'I am an actor. An Opera star. I will step into my new character. This lie I have developed for Erik's sake.' I thought and walked out with a smile in my face.

Once in the crowd I seen Raoul walk around looking for Christine. "Raoul!" I yelled and he turned to me. "Luna!" He said and walked to me. "Have you seen Christine?" He asked. "No but may I have a word with you? Out on the roof?" I asked and clasped his hand in a bold move. His cheeks tinted pink and he nodded as I led him to the roof.

As we stopped in the roof we face each other. "You look beautiful tonight Luna. Not that you don't any other time just tonight especially." He said rambling. I giggled. "I have a confession to make Raoul." I said and looked st the ground forcing a shy look. 'Be the character Luna.' I thought. "Yes? What is it Luna?" He asked tilting my head up so looked into his eyes. I propelled myself forward and kissed him with as much passion as I could force into the kiss when I seen Christine walk up to the roof doorway. She stopped and stared I horror at us. Raoul's hands rested lightly at my waist and he stood wide eyed as I kissed him. Christine ran away and I pulled back. "I love you Raoul." I said and gave him a pleading look. "Luna I....I cannit return your feelings. My heart belongs to another. Christine holds it." He said placing Hus hands on my shoulders. "Of course it does! Why wouldn't you love Christine and not me. She isn't the deformed one, she's beautiful and I'm ugly. Everyone can see that. No matter how hard I try to cover the scar everyone sees it and turns away disgusted! No one could ever love me!" I said wiping away the makeup covering the scar , revealing it to Raoul. "Luna, please-" "no! Just leave." I said and turned away. After a moment I heard him leave and I sighed. I had just told Raoul my deepest insecurities to Raoul. "Little Mouse...Come to me my Angel." Erik sang from behind me. "Why aren't you going to Christine?" I asked angrily. "I watched what you did with Raoul. I heard what you said when I was sleeping." He said and turned me to face him. "You heard what?" I asked playing dumb. "Luna...I tried to deny it, I've come to realize my feelings for Christine were folly and I had fallen in love with you." He said and held out a diamond necklace to me. "Luna will you be my wife?" He asked. I three my arms around his neck and kissed him passionately not needing to force any passion into it.

Back in his liar he placed me gently onto his bed. I took the mask off his face and smiled at his features. "You are truly handsome." I said and kissed his cheek lightly. "And you are a true beauty." He said and kissed me somewhat hungrily after removing my mask.
