"I made you cry
When I walked away
And although I promised
That I couldn't stay
Every promise don't work out that way"
Last chapter you all😪

Toni was gentle as she stitched up Tommy. He was tough but would still flinch when her movement was too sudden. Then she would quickly apologize and continue.
When she was finished, she cleaned her hands of his blood, letting it wash down the drain. Then she came back out to him.
"How bad did it hurt?" She asked. "...All of it."
"Worse than almost anything I've ever felt."
"Almost anything?" She knelt by the couch and rested her head against it, staring into the distance.
"Other things have hurt worse than a beating."
"Like what?"
"War. Loss..." he stopped himself.
"Me."
His hand found her cheek and ran along it gently. "Me too."
She looked up at him. He ran his thumb along her lip. "How bad did I hurt you?" He asked as a tear ran down her cheek.
"I could ask the same."
He bent down and she met him in the middle and they kissed.
Her tears increased, causing him to pull away. "What's wrong?"
"Tommy," she grimaced in pain, keeping her eyes closed, "I can't. I'm sorry."
"You can't do what? What's wrong?" He pulled her close.
"I can't stay here. I can't pretend like I forgive myself or you forgive me. I've got to leave. I can't..."
"Toni," he squeezed her and got her attention, "Toni, I swear to God if you leave me again, I'm going to die."
In that moment everything within her quieted. Toni would no longer listen to her doubts. She had him.
He kissed her.
