"Here it comes, Tommy. I love you."
"And there it goes, Grace. Away it goes. You can say it as much as you like...but there's no chance."

"I'm going to London," Tommy said.
"London?" asked Polly. "I usually handle the business in London."
They were in the office.
"I know, but I want to. I need a change of scenery," He said.
He was searching for something. His spirit would not be at rest until he found it.
"You know the memories it will bring you...You should just stay here in Birmingham. You haven't been to London since..." She started.
"Since Toni," he finished. "And Birmingham has many more memories than London, I can tell you that."
Polly shook her head. "I don't know, Tommy."
"I do. I'm going to London," he said. "I'll be mindful of our potential enemies."
"It's not our enemies I'm worried about." She said.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"You do far more damage to yourself than anyone ever could," she said.
He was silent.
"Well, I'm going. You're in charge until I get back," he said. "If I don't come back, then you're in charge for good."
He walked to the door.
"But you'll come back to us, won't you, Tommy?" She asked.
He paused in front of the door.
He didn't know. He'd come back as soon as he found what he was looking for.
"I'll see you, Polly," he said. Then he walked out of the door.

Thomas was in London. He stood in a doorway.
This was the entrance to his townhouse... their townhouse. Toni and he had owned it together, back when they were on top of the world.
That was a long time ago.
Turning the lock, he opened the door and stepped inside.
It remained untouched from when he had last been there two years ago.
Slowly, he walked through the halls, hands in his pockets. He stopped at the bedroom door.
Gradually pushing it open, he looked into the room.
He couldn't help but remember what went on in here.
"Tommy, I don't want to lose you," she whispered.
She lay in his arms as her fingers traced along his skin. They had just made love and now they held each other in silence.
Tommy gripped her tighter. He wanted to reassure her but did not want to lie.
"Tommy," she said.
"Yes," he answered, staring up at the ceiling.
"Make sure you come back to me," She held him tighter and buried her face in his chest.
