She lay with her head on his chest. Her fingers gently circled his skin as she gazed upon the alarm clock next to the bed, willing the time to slow down.
"We didn't fool him then?" Laura asked.
"What, Chris, nah, he's beyond fooling." Ricky snuggled the back of his head into the pillow, fully aware that the time to leave this comfort was fast approaching.
"What did he say?" She looked up to his face.
"He said, You've not been shaging in that cupboard have you?" He spoke in an even stronger northern accent than usual. Laura laughed and once again rested her head on his chest.
"That's not something I'd usually do you know. Have sex in cupboards. I blame you." She poked him gently.
"But you did it just for me." She felt his arm come round to encompass her body. Pulling her up, she straddled his hips with her legs before they gave each other a final reason to stay in bed for just a few more minutes.
Ricky stood with a towel over his head, rubbing his hair to dry it.
"I haven't got any hair products with me," he moaned. Laura stopped brushing her teeth to turn to look at him. Shaking her head and without removing the brush, she reminded me him he'd be on the radio!!
He let the towel hang around his shoulders as he pulled his jeans on. " You've not told me if you're coming to Leeds or not yet." Laura had moved back in to the bedroom and was sat on the edge of her bed pulling on a pair of of socks.
"I told you last night, I've got a doctors appointment at 4 o'clock." Ricky sat down next to her.
"And I told you come afterwards. If you've got the all clear to drive, a few hours up the M1 and you'll be there." He saw the worry in her eyes. "What's stopping you Laura?" She looked to the floor. Placing a finger on her cheek, he turned her face to him. "Tell me." His voice was questioning.
"I'm worried they won't like me and I'll be in the way." Laura said honestly.
Ricky grabbed the towel and put it around Laura's neck, pulling her towards him until they were nose to nose. She giggled. "Why on earth would they not like you?" As he kissed her they fell back on to the bed. Ricky pulled away. "And as for getting in the way, you won't."
Laura breathed in deeply. "Ok, if the doctor says I am alright to drive...I'll come."
"Yes!" Ricky jumped up and began bouncing from one foot to the other. "I'll let me mum know you're coming!"
"What?" he hadn't mentioned meeting parents. "Already, doing the parent thing?"
He laugh at her. "I'm starting to get the impression that you are a worrier at heart. You're not scared to meet my folks are you?" He pulled his shirt on as he spoke. Laura watching the final glimpse of his chest as he buttoned it up.
"I'm not scared," she half lied, "I just get a little nervous. It's a step, a mile stone, meeting parents." Laura thought back to the first time she'd met Aidan's mother in Ireland. A formal occasion, dinner at a local hotel. Aidan and Laura dressed to the nines, only to discover it had all been a show. His mother had been as down to earth as they come. Laura missed her.
"They'll love you, you're... sensible." He tightened up his belt.
"Worrier, sensible... You make me sound so boring."
"No not boring. Just normal. I like normal." He kissed the top of her head. Laura felt calmed as she watched him head towards the bedroom door.
"Ricky?" Laura called after him, "Are we staying at your parents?" His head appeared back around the door.
