Thank you to those people who continue to read. I am most grateful.

It took a while for Laura to remember what she had done when she woke up Saturday morning. The realisation of the fact she had spoken to Aidan on the phone for the first time in a long while made her feel cold. Why had she even got in to that situation? She was soon brought out of her daydream when her phone suddenly buzzed again with a message. It was Ricky this time, telling her he wasn't going to make it in to the office and he was sure she would be much more efficient without him anyway. He finished his message with the words 'Free tonight?'. Of course she was free. She wanted to see him. Just to prove to herself this whole Aidan nonsense was wrong. After texting a reply her phone began to ring. Ricky.

"Hello you. I thought you'd still be asleep or at least nursing a girly night hangover!" He sounded very chirpy.

"I don't do hangovers very often. You sound happier than a man should at this time of the morning." Laura wondered what he was up too.

"What is there to be down about? The sun is shining, I've got a gorgeous girlfriend and I'm off to an all expenses paid breakfast with the lads and then a photo shoot."

"All right for some. Is that why you're not coming in?"

"Yeah, sorry. Will you miss me?"

"Of course. But you're right, we probably will get more done without you," and without giving him chance to argue she asked, " And who is this gorgeous girlfriend? You didn't mention to me you had one."

Girlfriend. Was this is way of asking her. She felt 12 again. "Well, I thought it might put you off if I mentioned her." He hoped she was smiling. "I'm seeing her tonight actually. She turned me down last night, seems her best friend came before me, can you imagine that?"

"That's not fair. I didn't know you were coming round." Laura protested.

"Mmmmm, well I'll forgive you this once, but you'll have to make it up to me," he teased her.

"Oh is that right. Well what exactly do you have in mind?" her insides stirred at the thought.

"I'll tell you tonight, if you'll come out with me that is. We're off out for a drink." Laura listened to him, wishing she didn't have to wait until tonight to see him.

"Who's we?" she asked, secretly wanting Ricky all to herself.

"Chris has invited us out."

"Us? He knows there is an 'us'?" Laura thought they weren't going to be so obvious.

"Noooo," he sounded frustrated, "I've not told him, he said he was going to ring you today. I'm just telling you first. But honestly Laura, what's the secret?"

Laura thought about it. "There is no secret. Just makes it exciting. Snatching looks. Oh I don't know. I just want to keep it to ourselves for a while."

"It?" he questioned.

"Us."

"There is an Us."

"You called us 'Us' a moment ago. You started it." He could hear the laughter in her voice. "Oh stop it. Haven't you got a breakfast to go to?"

"I know. I don't feel like it now though. Can I come over to you? It's weird you're just down the road isn't it."

"Ricky, you are waffling. Go. I'll see you tonight." As much as she didn't want him to go, she knew she had to get on with her day.

"Yes, ok I'm going. I'll meet you there tonight, I don't know when we'll be finished."

They said their goodbyes. Laura showered, had her breakfast and headed out to work.
