"Come on Cass. It's been thirty minutes. Don't you think you should take the test already?" Joe called out from the kitchen.I hadn't left the bathroom in all the time it had taken Joe to return from the shop. He'd been typically Joe, giving me space, understanding that I was probably nervous and in some type of shock.
A gentle knock against the bathroom door let me know of his hovering presence.
"Cass?"
When I didn't respond, Joe gently turned the door handle to the bathroom door and let himself in, to find me in the same position in which he had left me; sat on the floor beside the toilet bowl.
I opened my eyes and smiled meekly.
"Honey...you have to take the test. I know it's scary, but I'm right here."
Joe was right. I couldn't avoid this. I had to know.
"I'll be just outside" Joe said softly as he placed the test on the kitchen sink.
