"Come on Cass. It's been thirty minutes. Don't you think you should take the test already?" Joe called out from the kitchen.

I hadn't left the bathroom in all the time it had taken Joe to return from the shop. He'd been typically Joe, giving me space, understanding that I was probably nervous and in some type of shock.

A gentle knock against the bathroom door let me know of his hovering presence.

"Cass?"

When I didn't respond, Joe gently turned the door handle to the bathroom door and let himself in, to find me in the same position in which he had left me; sat on the floor beside the toilet bowl.

I opened my eyes and smiled meekly.

"Honey...you have to take the test. I know it's scary, but I'm right here."

Joe was right. I couldn't avoid this. I had to know.

"I'll be just outside" Joe said softly as he placed the test on the kitchen sink.
