Chapter 4
Damen's View (Starts about the time Addison's 2nd vision ends)
I was sitting on our black leather couch reading some book I've probably read a thousand times, when my sister, Samantha, came in.
"What do you want?' I said grumpily.
"Well, someone's in a mood. I just wanted to tell you Zane went to sleep, Benjamin is watching the game in our room, and I'm going Christmas shopping," she said cheerfully.
"You know why I'm in a mood. Why are you going to go get?" I asked.
"Like I told you before, you'll find her eventually. Anyways, I need to go finish getting Benjamin some stuff," she answered.
Lucky her, she had her Fated or mate, depending on what you wanted to call it, to shop for. While, I had no one. That's all any vampire, werewolf, or witch/warlock ever wanted was to meet the one they were destined to be with. Samantha had met Benjamin 100 years ago, and they had the perfect relationship. Ugh! I mean, whoever she is, she has to be out there. Doesn't she? Maybe I'll just have to wait another 700 years.
"That's nice," I said.
She tried to give me a reassuring smile as she said, "Well, if it makes you feel better, I want you to find her, too. I need another girl and a shopping buddy. Then I'll have another person to add to my list for Christmas gifts. Maybe you'd meet her, if you went outside a little more. I mean, you're pale, even for a vampire, because you never go outside. Maybe this destined girl will be a miracle and make you more human."
"Don't forget that you were like before Benjamin came along," I retorted.
She rolled her eyes as she walked out the door. I ended up going to the basement.
I went to the white fridge, where we kept our blood bags. I grabbed a bag of O positive, and put the contents in a clear and clean glass goblet. I slowly took sips of the thick crimson red liquid, which helped to satisfy my thirst with each swallow.
Maybe Sam was right. Maybe I should leave the house.
I used my speed to leave the house. I decided maybe walking through the forest would be nice. Walking through the forest, actually gave me a lot of time to think. I sort of missed cocky and arrogant me. Once my sister met Benjamin, I started to change because I wanted what she had. When she met him, she gained humanity and understanding towards humans. Hopefully, when I find her, I'll go back to that guy.

I walked to the outside of town, where I knew there was this diner. Through the window facing the forest, I saw her. She was beautiful. The girl had golden brown hair, and even from where I was standing I could see her eyes were a very light brown color. She was talking to a girl, who couldn't be older than 8. The small girl had straight dirty blonde hair and light blue eyes, but they weren't as light as mine. I, carefully, listened in to what they were saying.
"You seem happier," the small child spoke. I growled lowly. Why hasn't she been happy?
"I just feel closer to Stephanie than I've felt for awhile," my Fated said in a soothing voice. Whoever this Stephanie was better not have hurt her, or she'll be answering to me.
I watched as their waitress put down their food and drinks. I kept my eyes on her as she ate. In this moment, I realized how creepy I was acting. Who cares?
I heard her mumble, "This is a really beautiful town."
I thought she was looking at me, until I realized she was looking up at the moon.
Once they finished eating, they headed out to the parking lot. I heard the little girl scream, "Sis, I love spending time with you."
Hearing that made me feel relieved because some part of me thought the girl may have been my Fated's child. That would have been a problem. I had to make my move now. I ran until I was directly behind her, and then I pinched the nerve I knew would make her go to sleep.
As she headed towards the ground, I lifted her up bridal style.
"Put my sis down, you scary man," the little girl screeched.
"I'm not going to hurt her or you, I promise. I just need you to come with me," I told her. I assumed the girl in my arms would hate me, if I left her little sister behind.
"I don't know. What's your name?" she said as she talked how most 8 year olds did.
"You can call me Damen. What can I call you, two?" I asked curious.
"Well, I'm Marie, and that's my sis, Addison," she said proudly.
Addison, huh.
"Why don't you get in your car? I'll drive you to meet my family. I have a nephew, Zane, who's only a few years older than you," I said, which it wasn't a lie. Zane stopped aging at 10, so he looked a couple years older than her. Samantha and I had taken Zane in after our brother and his Fated were killed leaving behind there 3 week old baby.
I watched as the fragile little girl jumped into her booster seat. I laid Addison in the passenger's seat, and took the keys out of her jacket pocket.
When I got in the driver's seat, I heard a cell phone go off. I took Addison's phone out of her pocket, and I saw she had a message. I decided it'd be best if I read it.
I went by your house and saw the letter. You didn't have to leave. I know you miss her, but I could have came with you to find her. Please tell me where your at, and I'll come to help. I'll miss and love you, too. Please be careful. -Lucas
"Hey, Marie, who's Lucas?" I asked.
"Oh, Addie's boyfriend for a year now," she said distracted.
I growled in jealousy. She had a boyfriend that she left, but didn't break up with. Who knows what they've done in a year?
As I drove, all I thought of are ways to dismantle this boy. "Damen, are ya a warlock?" Marie asked.
"Um, no, I'm a vampire. Why do you ask?" I said. In the mirror, I saw her freeze in fear.
"We're witches, so I was just wondering. We were owned by a vamp, like you. His name is Decan," she responded. Every vampire knew who Decan was. He was one of the Orginal's sons. I knew he treated his witch/warlock servant good, so it didn't make me angry thinking Addison had been enslaved.
I arrived to the house, and told Marie, "Don't go in without me."
I went to the passenger's side, and picked up Addison bridal style again. She was cute, when she was sleeping. I walked in to the house to find everyone awake.
Samantha was the first to see me. As soon as she saw Addison in my arms, she screamed, "What have you done?"
"Zane, why don't you take Marie, here, up to play in your room?" I suggested. Zane shrugged and headed upstairs with Marie right behind him.
"Benjamin, go get their luggage out of their car," I commanded, and he went outside.
As I laid Addison on the couch, I explained to my sister in two words, "It's her."
