The game had gotten set up, and we each had bots on our sides. Two each, to be precise. Teams of three, I stood to the right side of the couch, representing the blue team, while Anti stood beside me on the left side of the couch, representing the orange team. We both grabbed our seats and picked up our PS4 controllers.
"Rules are simple. Each round is five minutes long, so whoever gets the most points in that time period wins. Three rounds. No cheating. You can't use your powers against me. Fair game?" I asked and held out my hand to shake one last time to play fair.
"Fair game." Anti grabbed my hand a bit too tight and rapidly shook up hand up in down, which lead to him immediately focusing back on the flat screen tv ahead of us. I rolled my eyes and pressed play.
We were aligned on either side of the arena. A count down started before we could launch into action.
I looked over to Anti, who's eyes were glued to the screen. Watching him, he was doing what I was.
Mouthing the numbers back from three.
'Three...
Two...
One...'
"Go!" He shouted. I slightly jumped since I didn't expect him to yell.
I started off guard, which gave me a disadvantage. Anti had boosted toward the ball, hitting over to my side of the arena. I can already hear him laughing darkly, as if he think he can win.
The game has barely started, but I'm going to kick his ass.
I turned my car around toward him, launching myself in his direction. He already went to shoot in my goal, but my team's com was useful for once, considering most aren't, and blocked the ball, bouncing it back toward Anti's goal. It was my turn to laugh.
I repeated Anti's first moves even swifter than he did. I boosted my car towards the ball, dodging all Anti's com team members since he was still behind me, trying to catch up, and gave the ball a hard smack. We watched as coms fought for dominance around the ball, which ended up knocking it into the goal.
I almost jumped up and shouted in enthusiasm, but I stopped myself. There's no real reason to celebrate just yet.
Anti grunted in displeasure as the cars reset to their positions.
3... 2... 1... Go!
The round started with myself on track, boosting toward the ball like everyone else. Anti and one of my team coms had smashed together with the ball, causing it to fly to the right of the arena. Drifting my car to avoid collision, I raced to the giant sphere and hit it hard, waiting to hear victory in my name from it landing in the opposing goal.
Hopes set too high, since I completely missed the goal.
"Shit..." I mumbled to myself while Anti laughed.
"Having trouble there, (y/n)?" He chuckled while pushing my left knee with his right one.
"Shut the fuck up, demon. No distractions." I shouted louder than I had planned to. Anti had stopped responding, either because he didn't care and was too focused on the game, or because I finally shut him up and put him in his place.
Probably not that.
Anti scored a goal against me when the ball bounced away from his goal when I missed, right in front of him in perfect line of my goal. He over-exaggerated his win of a goal by shouting and fist pumping the air. I rolled my eyes, waiting for the cars to reset once again. We took off, and somehow, Anti clashed with the ball just right so that before anyone got a chance, the ball landed directly in my goal.
"Holy fuck! What a fucking shot! Yes! Ha ha ha!" Anti gloated in all his glory.
"Why are you already getting so excited?" I turned to ask him which just lead me to study the screen again since he pointed to it.
Across the screen read "Winner Orange".
"W-wha... T-the round is already over? That was five minutes?!" I asked him.
"Ha ha! Fuck you!" He acted as a child, sticking his tongue out and flipping me off.
Don't get too excited, Anti.
That was only one of three games.
We are only just beginning.
