Auditions for the spring musical were upon Garnier High School. It felt like the winter musical had just barely happened, and now there were auditions for the spring one! Christine didn't mind as much, though, because now she felt like she had a shot at getting a decent role.

They were doing The Light in the Piazza this time around, and even if Christine didn't get the lead (Carly would be back on the prowl, of course) she felt like it would be worthwhile to try out. After all, she could likely pull off being Maragret if she wasn't Clara in The Light in the Piazza.

There were other, smaller female roles as well, such as Franca. If the voice decided to come back to her, anyways, there might not be any contest. The voice had brought her to victory once, and there was no one saying he couldn't work his magic again.

Christine loved The Light in the Piazza. In fact, Clara Johnson was one of her dream roles. This might be her only chance to snag the part of Clara, as Garnier High School wouldn't be doing the musical again, at least not while Christine was still there.

It wasn't like she was planning to go on Broadway or anything for her future. Perhaps somewhere there might be a community production, but it was all up to chance. No, Christine would have to do her best to get Clara Johnson while she still could.

Clara Johnson was a difficult role to portray. She was a young woman with a child's mind still stuck inside of her, so her emotions varied widely and could change suddenly. The story was about her falling in love and starting to grow up.

It was about the way that Clara's mother Margaret had to take her to Italy alone and take care of her child as she started to change and hurt. The story was undoubtedly a romance, a drama, but it had its light comedic moments as well.

That's what Christine loved about it. It was a sweet, beautiful musical with a deeper meaning underneath. The role of Clara personified that perfectly, in Christine's opinion. She thought that she would be perfect for the role.

Christine was nervous for her audition, though. Ever since her great success as Cinderella and her final night as the lead, the Angel of Music had pretty much disappeared. He had faded to nothing more than a whisper that was more likely a hallucination of her subconcious mind.

Christine wouldn't admit it to a soul, but she missed her voice, her tutor. Her heart was hurting from the lack of the Angel of Music. It felt like he had been a part of her when he was around, but this was no longer the case. Instead, there felt like there was a gap where he was needed to complete her.

Simply put, Christine felt like it would be impossible for her to pull off something like she did when she snatched the role of Cinderella with a single song. Her voice wasn't inspired by her teacher's anymore. He was gone, and that edge of her voice went with him.

But she had distracted herself with working on her audition pieces for the Light in the Piazza, homework, Paul. Paul had been the easiest distraction to take her away, after all. Every text, every call, every date, everything that they shared together would take over her mind if only for a little while.

They were enjoying their time together so much. Being more connected and initmate than they could have been as young friends, everything felt even more personal and emotional. Christine didn't think they were going too quickly, though. Even if there was a doubt in her mind, she would justify it as saying they were making up for lost time as children.

But as Christine walked around the auditorium in the twenty minutes before auditions began, she was joined by her best friend Meg rather than her boyfriend. She had been nervous that Meg wouldn't want to spend as much time with her because Christine's time as the lead had allowed the blonde haired girl to get closer to her friends from dance, namely Jane.
